Arsenal have given a good transfer update for Morgan Rogers

Arsenal have been given good news to transfer Morgan Rogers, with the World Cup 2026 hopefully not a problem in the delay of the deal.
Rogers is highly regarded by the Gunners but is currently in the World Cup with England, although Ben Jacobs reports that manager Thomas Tuchel has no problem with his players going for medical tests while on international duty.
Speaking to The Latte Firm, Jacobs gave an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Rogers, with interesting information emerging about the Aston Villa star’s popularity.

Rogers appears to be happy to play as a winger or number ten at his next club, with no firm options, while Jacobs appears confident the 23-year-old will head to the Emirates Stadium…
Ben Jacobs to Morgan Rogers Arsenal transfer
“I expect Arsenal to sign Morgan Rogers. He is Arsenal’s preferred left back and/or #10,” Jacobs said.
“My knowledge is that Rogers has no choice but to sign as a left-back or a #10. Arsenal are expected to bid and this could move quickly.
“Remember that Thomas Tuchel is happy for players to do a doctorate in the England job. It might be the same with Elliot Anderson and Manchester City. But Arsenal maybe at a slower pace than Aston Villa.

“Aston Villa, even Champions League football, want a big sale to balance their books. When Rogers extended last year, there was an understanding that he could leave this summer for £80m as a start.
“It’s not a release clause or a gentle man’s understanding, but Villa said he wouldn’t stand in his way unfairly. I’m still being told that the deal will start at £80m, that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a number that guarantees a deal, but that’s a starting point for starting a conversation with Aston Villa. I think there’s a good chance this deal will happen.”
The World Cup will not delay Morgan Rogers’ contract
Arsenal fans will also be happy to hear that Rogers can be tested even after he leaves the World Cup.
The Premier League champions will no doubt want this big deal to be done as soon as possible to avoid other clubs stepping in, and Rogers is sure to be a hot spot after two outstanding seasons in a row at Villa Park.
The Englishman hit double figures for goals and assists again in the 2025/26 season, and it is clear that he can improve this Arsenal side in one area where they have struggled the most despite winning the title.
Mikel Arteta’s men have sometimes struggled in the final third, and someone like Rogers should be able to add more spark, and goal threat than the consistent Martin Odegaard.
If AFC can pull this off, it will be the kind of signing that could take them to the next level next season, with Arteta’s side narrowly missing out on the Champions League where they also lacked attacking quality in the final defeat to PSG.
