Arsenal are now weighing up a big-money offer to sign Real Madrid’s wanted Honest Ahanor
Arsenal have entered the race to sign the rising Serie A star who is being chased by several of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Arsenal are preparing to sign a Serie A defender
Fresh from winning the Premier League and reaching the Champions League final on penalties, Arsenal are on the mend.
Now that the Gunners have returned to their English throne for the first time in 22 years, Andrea Berta is determined to ensure this is a long-term reign rather than a short-lived visit to the top.
That could see a number of names come up, the biggest being Julian Alvarez. Although Atletico Madrid have made their stance clear regarding Barcelona’s interest, the North Londoners could step in to provide a new rival for the Catalan giants.
Alvarez is not the only name on the Gunners’ list. According to SportsBoom, Arsenal are preparing their move to sign Honest Ahanor from Atalanta this summer, even pushing the likes of Real Madrid to one side in the process.
The Serie A side valued their young defender at a whopping €60m (£52m), with interest from Los Blancos, as well as Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Man City.

Simply put, the 18-year-old is a wanted man for almost every top club in Europe. If ever there was a time for Arsenal to turn their English crown around to win a crucial transfer race, now is it.
The Emirates has become a haven for young defenders in recent times. Cristhian Mosquera was the latest name to complete a move last summer and Ahanor could follow suit in the coming months.
Why Arsenal are looking for the “surprise” Ahanor
On paper, it may sound absurd for Arsenal to look for another defender. Their backline has more depth than any other in the Premier League and perhaps European football. Ahanor is too talented to pass up, though.
An Italian dubbed “the wonder” by scout Jacek Kulig, the Italian has already made a name for himself in Atalanta’s first team, starting 19 games in all competitions this season. He has done everything to get a big move in the coming months.

The numbers give great credit to Kulig. Compared to William Saliba in a smaller dose, Ahanor was more aggressive and enjoyed better duel success than the Frenchman this season.
Meanwhile, in possession he shows all the signs of being a top-class defender. Whether that happens at Arsenal, Man City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Chelsea, the big question remains.
