Chelsea are now described as increasing their interest in Scott and view him as a ‘serious option’ in a report from TEAMtalk.

The report also reveals that Man Utd interim manager Michael Carrick also holds Scott in high regard, as the Red Devils have been monitoring the England under-21 international for a long time.

Alex Scott is set for a big transfer – will it be Chelsea or Manchester United?

Scott has been a key part of this impressive Bournemouth side who are currently sitting in 6th place in the Premier League and could potentially qualify for the Champions League next season.

The Cherries won’t want to lose Scott’s presence in midfield, as the young Englishman does an excellent job of protecting the defense and keeping things tight on the ball, although it’s also true to say that they’ve coped well with top departures in recent times.

Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez both left Bournemouth last summer, while Antoine Semenyo was another big sale this January, yet Andoni Iraola’s side have continued to go from strength to strength.

According to TEAMtalk, Scott is valued at around £50m, so Bournemouth are likely to cash in on the player and reinvest it wisely.

From there, it will be interesting to see whether he ends up at United or Chelsea, both of which have their pros and cons.

The Chelsea project is in disarray at the moment and they may not have European football next season, but Scott is likely to get some decent playing time as the Blues put more emphasis on recruiting and developing quality young players.

United may be the better project right now, however, as they have made real progress since Carrick took over and are looking forward to a return to the Champions League next season.
