Pirates OF Jhostynxon Garcia (23) earned his promotion by hitting a slew of home runs during his rehab season, belting three homers while going 5-for-5 in one game on May 12. He hit .375 in five games at Triple-A and should get his playing time while Ryan O’Hearn recovers from a right quad strain. If he hits well, I suspect he’ll stick even without a clear place to put him.

The return of Marlins LHP Braxton Garrett did not go well leading to speculation that LHP Thomas White (21, AAA) he will be called to take his place in the rotation. White was scratched from his scheduled start on Tuesday, with Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports that Garrett will be selected by the minors today. Another wrinkle here is that White has not looked good this season. His longest outing lasted 4.2 innings. He allowed four runs in four innings during his most recent start, bringing his ERA to 4.01 and his WHIP to 1.46. He has 35 strikeouts in 25.2 innings, but there’s obviously no guarantee he’s better than Garrett in his first couple swings.

Cubs SS Pedro Ramirez (22, AAA) runs the red light in the organization committed to another person everywhere he plays. Still, Ramirez is improving the roster in the process and generating future value, slashing .312/.395/.547 with nine home runs, 19 stolen bases and a 16.3 percent strikeout rate. Now there isn’t much he can do except keep the engine revved and ready for damage or maybe trade to make way. Cubs still need to be pitched. Justin Steele had some issues in his return from elbow surgery. You can make the case that they found one legitimate postseason starter in Shota Imanaga.

The Angels risked jumping Raudi Rodriguez (22, AA) over High-A to open the 2026 season, but it’s paying off for all involved. He is hitting .308/.440/.481 with five home runs and 16 stolen bases in a league that is 2.1 years younger than average. He also has an 18 to 19.2 percent walk-to-strikeout rate, and has been shutout over the past seven games, hitting .483 with two home runs and three steals. Perhaps another promotion is in order.

The Rays of Theo Gillen (20, A+) has been on fire all season (.333/.430/.675), but has been caught silly over the last eight games. He is hitting .483 with three home runs and stolen bases, pushing for an immediate promotion to Double-A. He won’t turn 21 until September.

Red Sox BY Justin Gonzales (19, A+) is having an off season. At 6’5″ 215 pounds from righty, he cuts the figure of an-or-nothing slugger, but that couldn’t be further from the local reality so far in his career. Through 33 games this year, he’s hitting just 15.3 percent of the time with a 9.8 percent walk rate and a slash line of .31/5/6 think Sixth/31/5 slash line of 6. home runs and lack of speed keep his rise under the radar Pretty much everything about him screams BUY where you can.

Giants SS Josuar Gonzalez (18, CPX) does not appear to be long in this complex. Through nine games, he is hitting .414/.541/.655 with one home run and two stolen bases. I guess you can pick a 24.3 percent strikeout rate, but today’s game rewards organizations that take guys to the next level if they look ready for a new challenge. If he hits well in full season ball, he will move up the ranks quickly.

Pirates SS Johan De Los Santos (17, CPX), the younger brother of Itch-fave Pirates SS Yordany De Los Santos (21, A+), signed for $2.2 million in January 2025 and played well in his first season, hitting .353/.451/.460 with zero home runs and 34 stolen bases in 44 games in the Dominican Summer League. He’s held his own this offseason and already has two home runs in 10 games this year, two of those games coming in Low-A, where it’s rare to see a 17-year-old. Pittsburgh moved him back to the complex after two games, but the fact that they’ve already sent him to full-season ball once suggests they’ll do it again soon if he continues to hit.
