Ancelotti extends his stay in Brazil until 2030

Carlo Ancelotti has signed a four-year contract to continue as Brazil coach until 2030.

Ancelotti took over as Selecao manager in May last year with Brazil when they were beaten 4-1 against Argentina in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March.

After a 0-0 draw with Ecuador in his first game in charge, Ancelotti guided Brazil to wins over Paraguay and Chile to book their place in the finals this summer.

Brazil ended the qualifiers with a 1-0 defeat against Bolivia, and have been consistent in their friendlies since then, winning three while losing to Japan and France and being held to a draw by Tunisia.

But the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has clearly seen that it relies on Ancelotti to lead it beyond the World Cup, as the Italian player has been given the opportunity to coach the team in the tournament to be held in Spain, Portugal and Morocco and the games will be played in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

In addition, Ancelotti will have the opportunity to lead Brazil in the 2028 Copa America.

Ancelotti enjoys a long-term role in Brazil

Having quickly developed a relationship with Brazil during his tenure, Ancelotti is excited at the prospect of working with the Selecao for a long time.

“I came to Brazil last year. From the first minute, I understood what football means in this country,” said Ancelotti in a statement confirming the extension.

“We have been working for a year to bring the Brazilian National Team back to the top in the world. But the CBF and I want more. More victories, more time, more work. We are very happy to announce that we will continue together for another four years. Let’s be together until the 2030 World Cup. I want to thank the CBF for trusting me. Thank you, Brazil, for all the love and acceptance.

CBF president Samir Xaud added: “Today is a historic day for CBF and Brazilian football.

“We are working every day to keep Brazil at the highest level of world football, while carefully looking at the development of other national teams, the competitions organized by the CBF and the strengthening of clubs and federations throughout the country.”

Brazil’s pre-World Cup friendlies and group stage matches

Brazil will play their last game in their country before heading to North America on May 31 when they host Panama at the Maracana on May 31.

They will then face Egypt in their last game before the World Cup, with Ancelotti’s men facing Mohamed Salah and Co. in Cleveland on June 6.

Drawn in Group C, Brazil will face the following group matches:

  • Brazil v Morocco – June 13, MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey
  • Brazil v Haiti – June 19, Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • Scotland v Brazil – June 24, Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida
