Fabrizio Romano reveals BlueCo’s 28-day ‘plan’ as Iraola ‘delighted’ with Chelsea job

Interim Chelsea manager Calum McFarlane will be aiming to impress his in-laws by lifting the FA Cup at Wembley on Saturday.
The manager’s partner’s family are long-time Blues season ticket holders and will be there to see his team take on Manchester City.
It is necessary to make a last effort to save something in this season that was not good, which could be worse as the club faces a campaign outside of European football if it fails to win against City.
“My girlfriend’s family are big Chelsea fans,” McFarlane said. “His dad and uncle have been season ticket holders for 50 years. He’s a big Chelsea fan.
“They are very proud. It means a lot to all the Chelsea fans. It’s a big game. I hope we can play a big role for all the fans.”
It has been a remarkable rise for the 38-year-old, who for the past 12 months has been in charge of Southampton’s under-21 side.
The final will be only his sixth game as a manager in senior football and his only victory came in the semi final against Leeds.
The former Saints and Man City youth coach has been appointed until the end of the season, taking over from Liam Rosenior who was sacked in April after only three months in the job.
“I can’t tell you exactly how I’m going to feel about this day,” McFarlane said.
“I will try to make it normal, I have taken a few games now at this level, not this kind of game.
“I’ll try to stay as level as possible. The players, the process, the way we work will be the same. I’m sure I’ll feel a lot of emotions that day.”
Fabrizio Romano reveals Chelsea target has ‘rejected offers’
The journalist dropped an update on Chelsea’s management search on his YouTube channel.
Results have been mixed since McFarlane took over temporarily. Rosenior was sacked following five league defeats in a row, and that streak was extended in the interim manager’s first game in charge, a 3-1 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest.
However, there were signs of an improved attitude from the players during their semi-final win over Leeds, and they fought back to draw 1-1 at Liverpool on Saturday.
“I’m actually happy with the whole team, the way the whole team responded,” said McFarlane. “The players in the team, the players who are not in the squad. The level of professionalism that is always shown at all times.
“It is clear that there are experienced players who have played in big tournaments, who had big moments in their career, you want their opinion to know how they feel about this game.
“You want to have that conversation with those players. I have that with the whole team.”
Chelsea have set up a 28-day process to hire a new manager
According to Fabrizio Romano, BlueCo has a plan to hire a new manager before the start of the World Cup.
The competition starts in exactly four weeks, giving the club just 28 days to find a new manager in the dugout.
Speaking on his personal YouTube channel, the journalist revealed that both Xabi Alonso and Andoni Iraola are ready to take the Stamford Bridge job, and Iraola in particular is “excited” about the idea of managing the Blues.
The 43-year-old has confirmed that he will leave Bournemouth at the end of the season despite putting the Cherries on the brink of European football, and has dismissed suggestions in Europe that he should stay in the Premier League.
