Brady Tkachuk Is Still Committed to the Ottawa Senators

It’s a topic that won’t go away as the Ottawa Senators return to the playoffs: even if their captain, Brady Tkachuk, will stay with the franchise going forward. Brady Tkachuk has been in the news for a long time, and things have picked up since the Olympics.

A list of questions he got after winning the gold medal about things that happened on the ice, not related to hockey, but also some of the things that happened on his Wingman Podcast with Matthew Tkachuk. From his body language, you can tell it’s getting to him. But he is still committed to helping the Ottawa Senators win the Stanley Cup.

NHL Rumors: Brady Tkachuk Will Be With Ottawa Senators Long Term

During Monday’s episode of the 32 Thoughts Podcast with Elliotte Friedman and Kyle Bukauskas, Friedman sat down with Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk. When you asked the captain of the Senators about his future with the team, he looked at all the noise, distractions, and political questions he had to face after Team USA won the gold medal in the Olympics.

Writing for NHLRumors.com

Elliotte Friedman: “Okay, I think there’s a question that comes out of that good, and that is, in any way, is it going to affect your future with the Ottawa Senators?”

Brady Tkachuk: “I mean, all the distractions that have happened this year have not been something that I can’t control, and people don’t want anything, they have the right to their opinion. I mean, it’s not in my head what I think. It’s not in the head of the team, and what they think. So for me, my mind has always been all those things, all that can’t control, all that can’t control. It’s just a waste of my time to be upset or distracted by it because at the end of the day, all I care about is winning the Stanley Cup, and now being in the games, I have a chance to do that.

Friedman: “Okay. Last one on this topic. Someone said that to me recently, that’s where we are, and we’re in a situation where this is always going to be a thing, Brady Tkachuk and Ottawa, and his future, until he signs a long-term deal or something else happens. Do you look at it that way? It’s just something we have to deal with?”

Tkachuk: “Yes. I mean, I think people will always talk about it. And for me, it’s important. It never came out of my mouth. I don’t think it ever came out of the team’s mouth. People just have the right to their opinion and talk about what’s possible, what’s possible. But at the end of the day, it’s my winning that’s all I know, and I can only win my Stanley, and I know that the Cup is the only one for this team and the guys in the room.”

NHL Rumors: Brady Tkachuk Committed to Ottawa Senators

It will be interesting to see where things go for Brady Tkachuk after the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Will he complete the seven-year, $57.5 million contract he signed with the team on October 14, 2021? He has two more seasons after this one ends with an AAV of $8.21 million and a full no-movement clause.

Brady Tkachuk will have to tell the Senators he wants out. So far, he hasn’t. If you’ve been following this story, the Tkachuk trade speculation has been coming from outside of Ottawa, not from within. But, given everything that is happening, will his mind change?
