Leeds slash bid for £35m striker as European club now ‘ready’ to sell

Wolfsburg are ‘ready’ to sell Mohamed Amoura this summer, with Leeds United now eyeing a reduced deal to sign the Algerian striker.
Wolfsburg ‘ready’ to sell Leeds target Amoura
Now six points clear of the dropzone, those at Elland Road can turn their attention to strengthening for the summer. The 49ers didn’t hesitate to back Daniel Farke this past year and it looks like that will be the case 12 months later.
The focus hasn’t changed either. Leeds are still keen to add to their forward line even after the success of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Lukas Nmecha and Noah Okafor this season.
Just who gets to that question is the question that all Leeds fans will be asking. While names like Leo Scienza have threatened to steal the headlines in recent weeks, Amoura is the latest star to be linked with a move to Elland Road.
According to L’Equipe, as reported by Sports Witness, Wolfsburg are ‘ready’ to sell Amoura and Leeds could make a cut-price deal this summer.
Leeds are now looking to sign the “good” player who is set to leave Newcastle this summer
Daniel Farke’s side want him.
The German club were previously rumored to be bidding a whopping €40m (£35m) for their striker, but are now reportedly willing to accept around €30m (£26m) for the Leeds promotion.
Wolfsburg are 17th in the Bundesliga and facing relegation – opening the door for Amoura to leave this summer.
It’s easy to see why Leeds are interested in Amoura. The 25-year-old has been involved in 12 goals in all competitions as his side struggle at the bottom of the Bundesliga. He will be the perfect strike partner for Calvert-Lewin.
Amoura would complete the starting line-up for Leeds
If the Yorkshiremen are to move beyond relegation trouble next season, signing players of Amoura’s caliber will prove vital.
The Algerian is at the peak of his powers and there is no flash in the pan after scoring 22 goals in the last campaign with 12 to count one season later.
“He suits our needs well, he offers great speed and goal threat and can play in many areas in attack.” (Former Wolfsburg sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz)
After signing Calvert-Lewin on a free contract last summer, Leeds should celebrate potential Premier League survival by splashing the cash on Amoura this summer.
The forward will be the perfect partner for Calvert-Lewin, who is an out-and-out striker to match the creative ability of the forward.
Furthermore, if Wolfsburg are relegated this season, it will be interesting to see the striker’s price drop significantly to the point where he becomes a trade deal.
If that turns out to be the case, the 49ers shouldn’t hesitate to make a deal for Leeds this summer.
