Jude Bellingham scored in the third minute of extra time as England came from behind to beat Norway in Miami and advance to the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup where they will face either Argentina or Switzerland in Atlanta on Wednesday.

Andreas Schjelderup’s 36th minute header opened the scoring before Bellingham collected Anthony Gordon’s pass and fired a volley into the far corner of the net in extra time in the first half.

Harry Kane was ruled offside just before half-time and Torbjorn Heggem’s goal was disallowed just after half-time due to Erling Haaland’s shove on Eliot Anderson.

Bellingham scored their sixth goal of the final after goalkeeper Orjan Nyland made a long save from substitute Morgan Rogers, earning the Three Lions a meeting with hosts or Die Nati, who will meet in Kansas City on Sunday (02:00 BST).

With Norway’s Haaland seven goals into the break in extra time, England could have scored again in stoppage time.

“It was a really tough game,” former England international Lee Dixon told ITV.

Heggem’s goal was disallowed after a VAR check penalized Haaland due to a new rule that means a corner is retaken if there is an infringement before the delivery is sent.

“It’s a complete turnaround at the start of this tournament,” Dixon told ITV. “There was a lot of pushing and grabbing.

“The referee said to Elliot Anderson, ‘don’t pull his shirt.’ They had a conversation and the Haalands pushed him down, so everything was there for everyone to see.

“Definitely there was a collision. If that happens in the center line, it is a free-kick. There is no difference.

“You can’t start pushing people before the ball goes in and expect to come out on top. This is a good situation.”
