Arsenal are ready to make a fresh bid for Bruno Guimaraes after the player told Newcastle of his desire to leave the club to join the Gunners.
Mikel Arteta has made strengthening the midfield a priority ahead of the new campaign and sees Guimaraes as the perfect addition to strengthen Arsenal’s engine room.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are preparing a new official bid for Bruno Guimaraes.
Mikel Arteta is driving this interest from within and wants him at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have already tested Newcastle’s decision twice, seeing an opening bid of £55 million rejected, followed by a second approach worth £65 million of the package also rejected.
Romano indicates that a fee of between £65 million and £90 million could speed up club-to-club negotiations.
The reporter also pointed out that Guimaraes informed Newcastle’s management last week of his desire to move to the Emirates Stadium. However, the Brazilian is not willing to force his way out and has chosen to leave the final decision in the hands of both clubs.

The development was also reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic, who said Guimaraes had officially expressed his desire to join Arsenal.
While Arsenal have stepped up their pursuit and indicated they are willing to put a package of up to £60 million on the table, Ornstein noted that official club-to-club contact remains limited.
The public mood in Newcastle continues to be very stubborn, with the Magpies adamant that they will not entertain requests for the 28-year-old captain.
Having already parted with key assets Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer for a combined £160 million, Newcastle are under no financial pressure to make a move.
Bruno Guimaraes would be a great addition to Arsenal
Defending Guimaraes would represent a huge statement of intent for the reigning Premier League champions.
Fresh from a strong World Cup campaign where he registered four assists in Brazil, the midfielder is regarded as one of England’s most complete box-to-box players.
His consistent passing, resistance to the press and ball-winning qualities will add another dimension to Arteta and could form one of Europe’s strongest trios alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.
At 28 years of age, Guimaraes is entering the prime years of his career and will provide quality and immediate leadership to Arsenal as they look to defend their Premier League title and mount another major challenge in the Champions League.
