After two impressive bogey-free rounds, Lucas Glover sits atop the leaderboard at 14-under-par, holding a slim two-stroke lead heading into the weekend. Leading the way in this event is a familiar place for Glover, who captured the title in 2021.
While the competition remains within striking distance, the experience of veterans can be very useful in the final 36 holes. Having spent more than two decades competing at the highest level, Glover seems undaunted by the pressure to defend the lead.
“I mean, this is my 23rd year,” he said in a press conference after Friday’s round. “There was nothing I was missing, I did that, I played well, I played in the last teams, I played in the last teams and I played badly.
Despite his composure, Glover plans to maintain an aggressive approach this weekend.
“There is no formula other than hydrate and rest and keep the pedal down this week, because it won’t hold,” he said. “There will be birds and eagles. It will be fun.”
Just two strokes back at 12-under Lee Hodges, who sits alone in second place and is looking to capture his second PGA Tour title. And one shot behind him is Zac Blair at 11-under, chasing his first tour victory.
At 10-under, a team of six players – Jackson Suber, Tyler Duncan, Troy Merritt, David Lipsky, Ryo Hisatsune and Ben Kohles – tied for fourth. Between them, four are still looking for their first PGA Tour victory: Suber, Lipsky, Hisatsune and Kohles.
Glover, Hodges and Blair will play at 12:35 PM (ET).
