Was The Firing Of Patrick Roy The First Of Many Steps To Come For The New York Islanders?

The New York Islanders fired coach Patrick Roy yesterday with four games left in the regular season and replaced him with Pete DeBoer. DeBoer received four years this season.
Emily Kaplan: “Heard NY felt they were leaving Ilya Sorokin exposed and needed a better defense. There is more time on Torts’ deal, so the Isles are best in this cycle before anyone else hires DeBoer this summer.”
Could there be more moves in store for the New York Islanders this offseason if they miss the playoffs?
NHL Media: Arthur Staple, when asked if the coaching change is the first of several moves or if it’s an episode or two away.

Dave Reid: “Yeah, Arthur, you see this team can, I’m talking about, they don’t score. They need that one shooter. Now, every team would like to have one more shooter. But is this, do you think this team might have one player, or will it be full, should we go back to the defensive style we’ve seen in the past?
Staple: “You know, I think the recruiting, being Peter DeBoer, who, what, you know, one of those guys that has changed, where he’s been to the finals with his last few stops in the first year. He’s been to the conference finals and a few others. That this is not a guy who’s going to wait patiently and coach for a long time.
So it says to me the inhabitants of the Island from the owner Scott Malkin down to Mathieu Darche, this organization felt good vibes from this year. They felt like they were closer than they thought at the beginning of the season, and they wanted to move forward.
So I think it’s going to be a tough season for Mathieu Darche. They added Brayden Schenn who got his time. They added that Ondrej Palat is still a year old. They added Carson Soucy, who is a UFA. I think those guys wanted a short-term kick. Apparently Schenn will be here for a while.
But I feel like there are certain areas, especially in their D core, they might need to shake things up and be more aggressive. And maybe there is a way to go, you know, Mathieu Darche will hear from him. But if we go into the offseason and there’s no playoffs, I think you’re going to want to do something, play really well in this program.
If Detroit Red Wings Miss The Playoffs Again, Would They Consider Trading Alex DeBrincat?
That is, the core has been together for a long time. Give them this year to see if they can answer it. And if they’re as weak as they’ve been in the last few weeks and miss, I think, I think there’s a chance they could try to get out a few bodies and change the look of his team.
