Time to move on from Mbeumo and Timber? Our five GW32 are selling

FPL gameweek 32 is the time to get brutal…

FPL gameweek 32 is where the season starts to fall apart. Chips are flying, slots and multipliers are getting higher and higher, and all transfers now have to count for more than one week. If you’re wildcarding, this is a great time to release players who no longer fit the program and make room for strong lanes to enter the running. Here are five words I would be comfortable continuing this week.

Raúl Jiménez (6.2m)

Jiménez is one of those options that looks good on paper until you break it down. He still has a game in Gameweek 34 that is empty, which is useful, but I’ll still want to continue with him. The run is not good: Liverpool first, then Brentford, Aston Villa and Arsenal. That’s a tough stretch for any forward, especially one whose basic data doesn’t do much to excite you. Add in the constant opportunity to rotate and it becomes an easy decision. There are better ways to spend your budget up front, and Jimenez feels like one of the areas up front I’d be happy to improve.

Bryan Mbeumo (8.6m)

Mbeumo has done a lot of good work this season, but this feels like the right time to jump in if you’re playing. Leeds are a decent fixture, sure, but they’re not automatic lights out – they’ve conceded just two goals in their four league games and are a lot harder to beat than people think. Then comes Chelsea in the distance, which is a terrible distance when most of the other teams double up. Performance-wise, he has cooled off a bit, and there is a real chance he could be turned over if Michael Carrick opts for pace and power with Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Šeško and Amad Diallo. At this stage, I prefer to sell on the better route.

Morgan Rogers (7.4m)

Morgan Rogers has become an FPL troll once again. The talent is obvious, the role is good enough, but when you really need him to deliver, it just doesn’t click. That’s frustrating when you’re trying to squeeze every single point into a wildcard. Yes, he’s playing in Gameweek 34 empty-handed, which helps if you’re not hitting free, but if you’re playing a wildcard now, I’d still seriously consider moving him. There are better short-term options with solid roofs and clear paths to points. Rogers could stay in the watch-list bracket, but for a wild-card team built to attack over the next few weeks, he’s irrelevant.

Enzo Fernandez (6.5m)

Fernández is still an excellent footballer and a very useful FPL midfielder, but Chelsea’s situation makes him difficult to trust at the moment. There was enough noise within the club to raise questions, until he was banned from the Manchester City game by head coach Liam Rosenior. The big question is whether he will go back to the doubles side. At this stage, that uncertainty is enough to sell him for a wildcard. If you want Chelsea coverage, Cole Palmer and João Pedro are the only two I would put forward. Fernandez can still comment, but there are clean ways to get into that attack.

Jurriën Timber (6.3m)

The logic here is simple: sell Timber, keep Gabriel. Arsenal going out of the FA Cup to Southampton was not what FPL managers wanted to see, as it takes away chances to double and makes their defensive formations less attractive. Arsenal are still a solid defensive team, yes, and can keep a clean sheet against anyone, but the opposite is not the case now. Next week’s game against Manchester City will be tough, not explosive, and that suits Gabriel more than the expensive punt at right back. If you’re choosing where to spend your money on defense, I’d rather target the teams I’m thinking about in a doubleheader game week.
