A player who turned down offers so Man Utd could sign him
Manchester United will spend heavily to improve their midfield options this summer, with Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte both set to leave.
Man Utd have told Ugarte to leave the club this summer
While Casemiro confirmed his exit in the past despite calls from fans to stay for one year, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Ugarte has recently been told to find a new home.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the journalist said: “Man United have been clear about the player’s camp, they want Ugarte to leave.”
Romano says there is interest from Turkey and Italy for the Uruguayan, who has not settled at Old Trafford since joining PSG in the summer of 2024.
The Red Devils could sign up to three new midfielders this summer, and are stepping up their move to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson.
Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest is admired and a move for Real Madrid man Aurelien Tchouameni is also among the considerations, but it looks like Ederson could be the first signing of the Michael Carrick era.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Man Utd’s ‘relationship’ with Aurelien Tchouameni’s agents
The Red Devils will spend a lot of time in midfield this summer.
The Brazil international has long been linked with Old Trafford and talks are ongoing to bring the 26-year-old from Atalanta.
Ederson came on the bench in Friday’s 1-1 draw at Fiorentina, with head coach Raffaele Palladino saying afterwards that talks with the senior team were taking place.
Ederson refused other suitors to ‘wait’ for United
According to Romano, the tough competition from South America is keen to join United and has recently turned down another club to ‘wait’ for an offer from INEOS.
“Ederson is on the market, Ederson wants to go to Man United, and what I understand and what I am telling you today is that Ederson prioritizes Man United.
“So even though there is another club, and it’s not Atletico Madrid, another club that has been calling in recent days asking about the price, the opportunity together, Ederson wants to wait for Man United.”
Romano says Anderson is also United’s ‘top priority’, but Nottingham Forest could demand more than £100m after his stay this season, and the same is true of Sandro Tonali, who is well-regarded but expected to be ‘very expensive’.
Carrick can’t wait to get started on his plans for next season, telling the media this week that he won’t be taking time off: “To be honest, no.
“I think you get the rhythm of working, actually, in different ways, I’m sure you have different hours in what I do, some of you work harder than others, I’m sure.
“You get used to it, you get into the flow of it. I loved it. I loved every minute of it, so I don’t feel like I need to rest.”
