This time, it is the player who played a major role in the World Cup that has caught the eye. Haissem Hassan played a key role for Egypt against Argentina as the youngsters came so close to suffering an upset in the tournament, before Lionel Messi made his point.
Hassan has gone out in style in this tournament, however, and has done enough to earn the interest of Celtic this summer.

Celtic are launching a bid to sign Hassan
According to a report from Fondo Segunda in Spain, which was also relayed by Sport Witness, Celtic has issued a proposal to sign Hassan from Real Oviedo. The Bhoys have submitted a bid worth around €4m (£3m) and are now awaiting a response from the Spanish second division club.
Although the 24-year-old did not enjoy the best La Liga campaign last season, failing to score a single goal as his side were relegated, he showed his full potential at the World Cup.
At £3m, Celtic clearly believe the winger is worth the gamble after his performance against Argentina.
The impressive Hassan has just overtaken Salah
Mohamed Salah is still very much the king of Egypt. He also played the role of a hero in all of Egypt’s competitions, drawing them into the history and the game. But if he is the one on the throne, Hassan is the heir apparent.
Against Argentina, the winner even surpassed Salah, playing a key role in Egypt’s first attempt to take a 2-0 lead before VAR intervened to let it go.
No player has enjoyed dribbling in an Egyptian shirt more than Hassan, not even Salah. Meanwhile, the Oviedo winger also created more chances than the former Liverpool man and got himself an assist. It was a fantastic display for a player who was on his way to Celtic.
