Jason Day was denied 1 wild Masters outfit, still raising eyebrows

In recent years, Jason Day has caused a stir among the powerhouses of Augusta National-been-the-week of the Masters. The culprit was the former champion’s clothes, designed by his sponsors Malbon Golf.
One famous Malbon jersey was banned by Augusta in the middle of the Masters two years ago.
This year, Suku and his Malbon collaborators are once again pushing the boundaries at a club that has been buttoned up in history. One planned Masters outfit in particular was reportedly rejected by Augusta National. But the outfit Day showed up at Augusta wearing on Monday, and some of his outfits planned for Masters week, are raising eyebrows again.
The 2026 Masters day apparel is available
In Masters progression, Sports Illustrated reported that Augusta National rejected one of the Malbon Day dresses it had planned to wear this week.
That outfit, seen below, featured a head-to-toe rain suit covered in bird prints. But it turns out that one part of that dress survived the Masters’ inspection. Day will wear a bird-covered rain jacket on Thursday if inclement weather arrives.

The bird motif can be found throughout Day’s Masters jersey this year, including the stripes he wore Monday during practice at Augusta.
The day featured a tan vest version of the bird motif, which includes several species of birds meant to represent the resident birds of Augusta National. (You can see Day’s Monday Masters outfit in the photos at the top of the page.)

“If you’re in a position and you’re watching nature and you know the sounds of birds, you’re going to make more birds,” Malbon said. Sports Illustrated. “Inspired by Native American beliefs.” Each of these birds has a different meaning. I’ve been sending bird sounds to Jason for the past six months. I hope you are trying to connect with nature.
Day plans to wear the bird vest he rocked on Monday and in Friday’s second round, possibly with the same hat.
Although the most eye-catching outfit of all may be Tuesday’s pick. Although inspired by a bird vest, it looks like an old-school fishing vest. Well, that might be worth it, as Augusta National’s famous lakes are said to be home to some big fish.
Jason Day once had his jersey banned during a round at the Masters
If we had to guess what specific problem Augusta National had with the head-to-toe birdie dress they rejected for the 2026 event, it would be that they found it “too busy”.
At least, that’s how Suku described the offending Malbon jersey the club asked him to remove in time for the 2024 Masters.

The white vest had a large print that read, “No. 313 Malbon Golf Championship.”
“Yeah, they asked me to take it off – the vest yesterday … busy,” Day told reporters during the 2024 Masters. “It’s respectful to do that because it’s about the competition here, and I understand that, I respect the competition. That’s what we’re here to try to play and win the green jacket.”
As for the group’s thinking, Day said Augusta officials didn’t give up.
“I don’t know, I didn’t ask and they said you can take it off, I said yes, no problem.
But Day turned a bad sweater into a good deed. The infamous vest was later sold during a charity auction for Day’s Brighter Days Foundation, with the winning bid reaching $17,300.
