Here’s a look at Aston Villa’s highest paid players…

8

Victor Lindelof

£120,000 a week

After being released by Manchester United in 2025, Aston Villa finally stepped in and signed Victor Lindelof on a free transfer.

The Sweden defender has signed a two-year deal at Villa Park and will collect just under £12.5m in wages during his time in the Midlands.

7

John McGinn

£120,000 a week

Since joining the club from Hibernian in 2018, John McGinn has been a consistent performer for Aston Villa, and when he’s at his best, he can produce magic out there.

The club clearly value the 29-year-old as he signed a new deal in 2023 that will keep him in the Midlands until the summer of 2027. We could argue that McGinn has more than earned his spot on this list.

6

Ollie Watkins

£130,000 a week

Striker Ollie Watkins had the time of his life at Villa Park, and his form in front of goal helped the club to European qualification.

Watkins has now passed 100 goals in a Villa shirt, so a good reason for his £130,000-a-week wages, and he has a contract until 2028.

5

Lucas Digne

£135,000 a week

Lucas Digne’s time at Villa Park is difficult to judge due to injuries that sap his momentum whenever he seems to have found form.

In fairness to the Frenchman, he entered Unai Emery’s plans at the start of last season, despite having a contract until 2028.

4

Amado Onana

£140,000 a week

Onana

Amadou Onana, signed until 2024, was one of the club’s additions this summer, with Villa putting the lure of the Champions League to the full by winning the race for the Belgians.

Onana arrived from Everton for around £50m and looks set to be a mainstay at the club, possibly for the next five years of his contract. He will only be 28 in 2029, so it is possible that Villa could find a more sensible deal later on.

3

Youri Tielemans

£150,000 a week

Youri-Tielemans

Youri Tielemans was the first signing of the summer of 2024 and helped set the tone for the level of player that fans can expect to get into.

The Belgian player has been playing in the Premier League regularly since joining Leicester City from Monaco in 2019. In fact, it was a no-brainer for the Villans to land the midfielder as he has been linked with Arsenal for over a year.

2

Boubacar Kamara

£150,000 a week

Boubacar Kamara moved to Birmingham in 2022 after his contract with Ligue 1 giants Marseille expired.

He has had his share of injury problems, however, and the midfielder has done enough to earn a new £150,000-a-week contract signed until 2025.

1

Emiliano Martinez

£150,000 a week

Emiliano Martinez is another who earns £7.8m a year. However, given his international record and regular performances in the league since joining the Villans, he may be the right fit.

The World Cup winner joined the Villans in the summer of 2020 for £17m from Arsenal and has been brilliant in Claret and Blue, although he almost left in 2025.
