Ibrox officials are looking to sign a major £9m upgrade for Rangers’ Raskin

Glasgow Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin has emerged as a strong contender to win the player of the year award at Ibrox for the second year running.
The Belgian currently leads the squad in assists (six), passes (1,771), fouls (57), and tackles won (71) in the Scottish Premiership this season, which pretty much sums him up.
Raskin is an all-around star who can contribute a lot to the team on and off the pitch in the middle of the park, with assists, passes, and tackles.
Since signing from Standard Liege in January 2023, the Belgian talent has shown that he has both the technical quality and physical qualities to shine in Scotland’s top flight.
The midfielder has won 55% of his face-offs and 54% of his aerial contests in the Premiership this season, showing that he is beating the opposition more often in battles.
Guardians are eyeing a summer move for the £9m star
While Raskin is in incredible form for the Light Blues and could help them win their first league title since 2021, there is always room for improvement.
The Gers could be working on Danny Rohl’s first summer in charge of the club, regardless of whether they win the league, and look for a player who could be a huge improvement on the Belgian.
According to TEAMtalk, Glasgow Rangers are already looking at potential new signings in the upcoming summer transfer window, including Premiership stars David Watson and Luke Graham.
The report, however, adds that Ibrox officials are also looking to sign BK Hacken midfielder Silas Andersen to bolster their options in the middle of the park for the 2026/27 campaign.
TEAMtalk claim that the club have contacted the Swedish club to inquire about a deal for the Dane in the January window, but have been unable to get a move over the line.
It adds that the Gers are still monitoring his situation ahead of a potential summer swoop for his services, although it was recently reported that it would take £9m to sign him permanently.
Why Andersen will be better than Raskin for Rangers
The Danish midfielder will arrive at Ibrox as a better option than Raskin in Rohl Park, if he can transfer his form from Sweden to Scotland.
In the 2025 Allsvenskan campaign, Andersen showed his Raskin-esque ability to touch games with and without the ball at his feet, thanks to his technical and physical qualities.

The £9m-rated talent is ranked highest among players in the Allsvenskan, not just midfielders, in a number of key statistical metrics, including tackles, interceptions, and duels won.
Andersen isn’t just a defensive influencer who can disrupt midfield play, though, as he also scored two goals and provided two assists in Hacken’s 24 league games.
The Rangers transfer target averaged 4.9 tackles in the league in 2025, while Raskin averaged 3.0 tackles per game in the Premiership this term.
Andersen, hailed as a “relentless” player by U23 scout Antonio Mango, also won 60% of his ground contests and 56% of his aerial battles in 2025, showing that he is more powerful than the Belgian in his physical battles.
The Danish star also won more fouls per game (2.0) than Raskin (1.6) at the league level, and made 1.3 more clearances per game than the Rangers star, with 3.3 per game.
While it remains to be seen whether he can produce similar numbers in the Premiership, the Hacken star’s stats for the 2025 campaign suggest he has the potential to be a better midfielder than the Light Blues’ Raskin.
He can make defensive interventions, while being very efficient at doing so, and improve the quality of Rohl’s team without managing, without losing any quality on the ball.
At 21 years of age, Andersen is also four years younger than Raskin and has time on his side to develop and improve over the coming years, meaning he will be the worst signing for now and for the foreseeable future at Ibrox.
Therefore, Rangers should push to win the race to sign the Danish this summer as he would be a better midfielder than Raskin, and a potential partner in the middle of the park.
