Berta is in talks to sign “the world’s most powerful DM” for Arsenal

Despite years of problems with the board, Arsenal are known as a club that is not afraid to spend money in the transfer market in the last few years.

The Gunners have spent more than £500m over the past four years, helping Mikel Arteta transform the club into consistent Premier League title contenders.

The Spaniard has done just that, but has fallen short in the last three seasons – twice at Manchester City and Arne Slott’s Liverpool.

However, with just three games remaining in 2025/26, his side are now in the perfect position to end their 20-year title drought and give a generation of fans the time of a lifetime.

Success on the pitch will only make the North London outfit an attractive proposition for transfer targets, which could see even more arrivals during the next window.

Arsenal are in talks with the star player

In a bid to add more depth and quality to the midfield, Arsenal’s management have been working hard to target reinforcements ahead of the summer window.

Former Nottingham Forest player Danilo emerged as the only transfer point, having regained his form after joining home club Botafogo last summer.

He would be the cheapest addition during the upcoming transfer window, with the 25-year-old expected to cost around £35m when the market opens.

He is not the only player currently being pursued by the club, with Atalanta star Ederson another option available ahead of the off-season.

According to Football London, Technical Director Andrea Berta has entered into discussions with the player’s representatives about moving to the Emirates.

The report also claims that Atlético Madrid hold a long-term interest in the Brazilian, but are currently looking at other targets to improve their own pitch.

Ederson-Atalanta

The 26-year-old would be another key addition to Arteta’s side, with the 26-year-old available for a fee in the region of £40m this summer.

Why Ederson can make Rice unstoppable at Arsenal

As part of Arsenal’s recent cash flow, midfielder Declan Rice is just one of the big-money signings to bolster the Gunners’ top flight.

The England international cost £105m in the summer of 2023, but it proved to be money well spent given his impressive performances at the Emirates.

He has produced many moments of magic, but his two free-kick goals against Real Madrid in the Champions League will undoubtedly be the highlight of his career so far.

As a result of his impressive performances in the Premier League this season, he is in contention for the best player award in the division – proving once again that he is worth every penny.

Rice played a box-to-box role, giving him the freedom to create execution with the ball at his feet in front of goal – either through goals or assists.

However, a deal for Ederson could see the Gunners get a new midfielder to sit in front of the back four and allow the Englishman to have fewer defensive duties.

His stats for the current campaign in Italy highlight his quality in finishing the game, which would make him a perfect summer signing for Arteta’s men ahead of 2026/27.

The Brazilian, dubbed “the most powerful midfielder in the world” by Damiano Er Faina, has made an impressive 2.4 per 90 tackles this campaign.

Such a figure puts him in the top 15% of midfielders in the division, which also highlighted his incredible ability to get his team back.

He also had 5.5 tackles and 1.2 successful interceptions per 90, which only confirms his incredible ability to read the game off the ball.

Ederson has been very dominant over the past few months, as seen in his 5.6 ground duels in 90 – and ranked him in the top 20% of Serie A players.

He also thrived when he got the ball at his feet this campaign, as evidenced by his 89% pass rate, and his 1.1 chances created per 90.

If you combine all the aforementioned statistics, there is no doubt that the Atalanta star has all the tools to allow Rice the opportunity to reach the next level in his career.

The Brazilian’s work-like style and quality in possession will allow the Englishman to push forward, while being given opportunities to impress, given Ederson’s passing ability.

£40m for a player of his quality in today’s market would be very good business and could allow Arsenal to be a force to be reckoned with next term.
