Liam Lefebvre – 2026 NHL Draft Prospect Profile – Hockey Writers – NHL Draft Entry

Liam Lefebvre

2025–26 Team: Chicoutimi Saguenees (QMJHL)
Date of birth: May 15, 2008
Place of birth: Montreal, QC, CAN
Height: 6-foot-3, Weight: 203 pounds

Position: Center
NHL Draft Eligibility: Second year eligibility 2026

Levels

With a draft class not filled with options at center, Lefebvre could be seen as one of the market’s underperformers on pick day in June. As a tall center with excellent results in his game, Lefebvre could be an interesting prospect for several teams when he is selected.

Splitting his time this season between Rimouski and Chicoutimi, Lefebvre stayed with a point per game in 2025-26, recording 59 points in 59 games for both teams. Along with regular season success, he had a big impact in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Playoffs, recording 12 points in 20 games, helping Chicoutimi capture the league title.

An aspect that Lefebvre brings to his game is his size gain. Most of the time when he’s on the ice, he looks like a giant compared to the rest of his lineup. For a big man, he has the ability to skate to get going, but his biggest attribute is his shooting. Lefebvre can put the puck in on a one-timer or quick shot.

He is also not afraid to throw his body around and hit big shots; Sadly, that got him into hot water, as a pair of them completed five minutes of major penalties. But with his aggressive play, he has shown great ability to dig up pucks in board battles and find a way to distribute back to his teammates in the offensive zone.

Some THW Draft profiles

Liam Lefebvre NHL Draft Projection

As a player going through the draft process for the second time, teams will be hesitant to select Lefebvre because he is an older player. In 2025-26, he was able to show a lot of promise in the QMJHL, and I feel like he beat his draft stock all season long. As a center in a weak class, I saw him being picked in the third round; he might slide into the late second round if the team really likes what he can bring.

Measurements

“A big man, as well as a skater, good motor and physicality. That goes along with the improvement he’s seen in his game since coming to the QMJHL this season and it’s hard to believe that this kid not only has a streak, but won’t be one of the first re-entries in the draft.” – HF boards

NHL Power

With centers coming at a premium in the NHL right now, Lefebvre has a chance to forge his own path to the NHL. Standing at 6-foot-3, a player of his height is always popular in front offices and with the qualities he possesses, his services will be in demand at the pro level. I can see Lefebvre as a middle six center on an NHL team, someone who can be tackled to score, but also play a tough and physical game that takes opposing players off their game and helps turn the puck over for his team.
