Sky Sports share a new update on Andoni Iraola at Crystal Palace after AC Milan’s twist

Crystal Palace are still celebrating the biggest night in the club’s history after their Conference League final win over Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday night, but attention is turning to the big decision off the pitch.

The Eagles lifted their first piece of European silverware after a stunning victory, ending an emotional season and giving fans another memorable moment following their FA Cup and Community Shield success in 2025.

It was a result that further strengthened the feeling around Selhurst Park that the club has continued to progress over the past two years, despite not being consistent in the Premier League.

However, uncertainty over the managerial position remains a major talking point heading into the summer.

Oliver Glasner is set to bid farewell to the club after being relegated from Leipzig, meaning Palace are still scouting potential replacements ahead of what could be another major rebuild.

The Crystal Palace star played his last game at Selhurst with a ‘planned’ transfer.

It’s possible the Eagles will have a bye.

Among the names most linked with the role is Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola.

The Spaniard has attracted plaudits across Europe after guiding Bournemouth to an impressive campaign.

Bournemouth finished sixth in the Premier League and played some of the most aggressive and exciting football in the division under Iraola, who has greatly enhanced his reputation over the past 12 months.

This form has led to interest from several clubs, including AC Milan and Crystal Palace, who are believed to have opened talks with Steve Parish’s rivals.

Sky Sports share a new update on Andoni Iraola at Crystal Palace

However, according to Sky Sports’ comments during the live broadcast, neither situation seems close to developing.

“We have just been told about them [AC Milan] “The negotiations are not really progressing,” said Sky this morning.

“Does that give Crystal Palace hope that Andoni Iraola could go to Selhurst Park?

“Well, we are told, no, he seems to have no chance of joining Crystal Palace.

“Therefore, negotiations with AC Milan are not continuing, but that does not mean anything in terms of Crystal Palace’s situation.

“We’ve been told that he doesn’t really want to leave Bournemouth, who are in sixth place, to go to Crystal Palace, who are in 15th place, even though they won that cup last night.”

On the other hand, the collapse of the pursuit of Milan could open the door for another team to enter a strong position.

But the suggestion from Sky is that Iraola’s reluctance to join Palace remains unchanged regardless of what happens elsewhere.

Winning the Conference League gave the club another major success and strengthened its growing profile across Europe. But their league campaign was less than satisfactory, with Palace spending most of the season in the bottom half.

That difference may partly explain why it can be difficult to convince a manager who has already been successful elsewhere.

However, Palace are expected to continue to explore a number of options before making a final decision, with former Flamengo manager Filipe Luis among other options mentioned.

Iraola remains popular internally for his attacking style, coaching reputation and ability to develop players, even if a move currently looks unlikely.

The situation can also change quickly.

Managerial markets tend to change quickly when clubs begin formal negotiations, and Palace know they are closing in on an important appointment ahead of another season of European football.

For now, however, the message from Sky Sports is clear: despite Palace’s European triumph and AC Milan’s stalled talks, Iraola doesn’t seem close to joining.

Crystal Palace want to sign Brighton star Coventry who they think will be the “jewel” of a coup.

The Eagles have expressed interest.
