Liverpool are preparing to launch a £60m bid for Szoboszlai’s next signing

Liverpool’s ability to spend big in the transfer window has been evident in recent years, but none more so than last summer under current manager Arne Slot.

After winning the Premier League title last year, the Reds boss backed the Dutchman with more than £450m to take his club to the next level.

The likes of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak have both been signed in deals in excess of £100m, breaking the club’s transfer record on two separate occasions.

However, without spending a lot of money, the officials look set to improve the quality again this summer, especially with Mohamed Salah leaving at the end of the campaign.

Many names have been linked with a move to Merseyside this summer, but it remains to be seen which player will be their number one target for now.

Liverpool will make a £60m bid for the attacking sensation

A few weeks ago, the star of Bayern Munich, Michael Olise, was one of the players said to want to replace Salah in the summer window.

The Frenchman has been in impressive form throughout the ongoing campaign, after which he registered a combined 45 goals and assists for Vincent Kompany’s men in as many games.

However, the Bundesliga outfit have said the 24-year-old is not for sale at any price this summer, which could disrupt the Reds’ business in the offseason.

Olise is not the only player in Germany’s top flight currently being targeted by management, with RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande another player being admired behind the scenes.

According to a SPORT report via Sport Witness, Liverpool are preparing a £60m bid for the Ivory Coast international, who has registered 16 goals and assists this season.

However, the Reds are not alone in their pursuit of the 19-year-old this summer, with Chelsea and Barcelona also in the race for the youngster in the coming months.

It remains to be seen whether the next transfer fee will be enough to secure his signature, but with Diomande being a Reds fan, he could give them an advantage in the race.

Why Diomande will be Liverpool’s next Szoboszlai

Back in the summer of 2023, Liverpool completed the £60m signing of attacking midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai from Germany’s RB Leipzig, with very few fans knowing what to expect.

However, in the last few years, the Hungarian has become one of the star men for the Reds, with his performances keeping the men of the Slot in the position of getting the fourth finish.

The 25-year-old has registered eight goals combined with assists in the Premier League this season, with his many goals earning him the Goal of the Season award.

He scored two long-range goals against Manchester City and Arsenal, which is undoubtedly the one who shines the light for the club in the attacking areas in recent months.

However, the Reds could complete a similar deal for Diomande this summer, with the Ivorian international emulating Szoboszlai by moving to Anfield from Leipzig.

Szoboszlai

As a Hungarian, he is somewhat unknown to his fans, but the club will no doubt be acquiring top-class talent who can thrive on Merseyside for many years to come.

His basic stats also highlight the quality he possesses, which I could see mimicking Szoboszlai in becoming a fan favorite for any trip to Merseyside.

The 19-year-old registered a 50% shot on target accuracy rate, and 1.1 shots per 90 targets – both ranked in the top 20% of all players in the division.

The aforementioned figures will add an extra dimension to the club’s forward, who are likely to follow in Szoboszlai’s footsteps in succeeding in the bottom third at Anfield.

Diomande’s handling skills are also reflected in his 85% pass completion rate, while creating 2.1 chances per 90 so far this campaign.

The latter are more than 88% of the players in the division, which would allow players like Hugo Ekitike, Isak and Szoboszlai to improve and improve their statistics.

However, the most important thing for the Ivory Coast player is his ability to get past his opponent, as evidenced by his impressive figures of 4.1 dribbles per 90 – for a success rate of 58%.

At just 19 years old, it’s truly shocking to see how impressive the Leipzig star has been throughout the current season, with his talent making him the perfect replacement for Salah.

It is unclear whether the £60m offer will be accepted in the summer window, but it is a sign of the management’s intention to strengthen the club in the offseason.

If he can make a move and come anywhere near the levels Szoboszlai produced at Anfield, it would be yet another piece of good business completed by the Reds in their hunt for glory.
