West Ham forced to sell as Sunderland target shock £10m star

With the shock of European football confirmed, Sunderland have immediately joined the race to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from West Ham United at a bargain price.

The Black Cats have found their place in recruitment over the past 12 months and could not have hoped for a better result. Before this season, the last six promoted teams were quickly defeated and returned to the Championship. Sunderland didn’t just end that trend, they did it in style that shows they are here to stay in the top flight of the Premier League.

The Black Cats are making plans for the summer transfer window.

Their ambitions have been clear for the past two years and rumors suggest that they intend to use the opportunity to qualify for Europe to end the controversial negotiations.

According to TeamTalk, Sunderland are now aiming to sign Wan-Bissaka from West Ham this summer. The Hammers need to make £150m in sales following their relegation from the Championship and will have no choice but to offer contracts if they are in such a sorry state.

Several Premier League clubs have come in for Wan-Bissaka as a result and West Ham have slapped £10m on their right-back.

Of course, the former Manchester United man makes perfect sense for Sunderland as they prepare to bid farewell to Lutsharel Geertruida, who returns to parent club RB Leipzig following his loan spell.

Instead of pursuing a permanent deal, it looks like the Black Cats are looking for a cheaper alternative at West Ham’s expense instead.

Le Bris insists that “Anything is possible” after the European qualification

Sunderland fans were in dreamland when Tommy Watson stunned Sheffield United late at Wembley this time last year. They would have snatched the chance to survive in the Premier League. 12 months later, however, they have gone from top-flight hopefuls to European qualifiers who are here to stay.

It’s true that even the most optimistic fans on Wearside thought it almost impossible. Now that dream has come true, however, anything is possible with Regis Le Bris.

He told reporters: “This is an important step, it shows that everything is possible in football, especially if you work hard, represent the community and humble yourself.

“We struggled at times this season, we lost badly at home and they bounced back, they worked hard and we finally got the results. It’s great.”

“We’re growing fast, but in football it’s hard to expect something. We put in the effort, the players were very connected, looking for each other and most importantly.

“We have outstanding leaders in the team, young boys who are willing to learn. Just enjoy it for a while because football can go one way or another. At the moment everything is going really well. Keep going.”
