Sunderland and Nottingham Forest are studying the interest of the next club for Celtic star Engels
Sunderland and Nottingham Forest are now vying to sign the star midfielder, who could even get through the exit door at a lower price than first thought.
It will be music to the ears of the two Premier League players, with Sunderland hoping to maintain their reputation in Europe next season and Forest looking to regain theirs following a difficult last campaign.
Leeds, Sunderland and Fulham battle to sign £17m South American star
Premier League clubs are keen to sign the defender.
The Black Cats are already making good use of their qualities. They are reportedly eyeing South American star Viery in what could be the perfect way to start their summer business.
The Brazilian, who is still only 21 years old, has a €50m (£43m) release clause and could become the most expensive player in Sunderland’s history if they start that clause.

Defender is not the only name on their radar, however. The Wearside side have been blessed with options ahead of next season and have now been given a major boost in the race to sign a midfielder ahead of Nottingham Forest.

The intention of Sunderland and Nottingham Forest made a decision to transfer
According to Tuttomercatoweb, as reported by Sports Witness, Arne Engels now prefers a move to Sunderland instead of Nottingham Forest this summer due to their qualification for Europe last season.
Regis Le Bris could also land the midfielder for a cheaper fee than first thought. While previous reports suggested Celtic would pay £25m to sell the Dane in the coming months, their price has now dropped to €25m (£22m) in another upgrade for those on Wearside.
It is clear that Sunderland are passionate about Engels, as they have already spoken to his representatives to find out how he wants to be sold before next season. Whether that mutual interest turns into an offer remains to be seen, however.
After seven goals and eight assists as Celtic won the Scottish Premiership title last season, the Danish player will certainly have a lot more to offer in the Premier League.
