Berta driving for Tzolis leaves after inspecting the job as Arteta approves the deal

Arsenal’s search for a new striker continues to be one of the biggest stories in their summer transfer window.

Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are determined to add more firepower to the team that successfully delivered the Premier League title last season.

The Gunners have already been heavily linked with Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, who has become one of the most attacking players in English football.

Rogers is admired for his ability to play in many areas and his combination of speed, power and creativity would make him an attractive part of almost any side in Europe.

Another player who has been heavily involved in Arsenal’s recruitment talks is Athletic Club winger Nico Williams.

The Spaniard has long been regarded as one of the most dangerous players in European football and continues to attract a number of top clubs, including the Gunners.

Arsenal’s recruitment team appear to believe that adding more competition and depth in attacking areas would be crucial as they attempt to defend their league crown and challenge for the Champions League.

The Gunners are about to miss out on a ‘key’ target.

There is also the issue of top players potentially leaving the N5, with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard being tipped for high-profile exits this summer.

While fans are understandably focused on those top names, another target has now emerged from Belgium.

Berta urges Arsenal to move Christos Tzolis after a test trip

According to BBC reporter Sami Mokbel, Club Brugge striker Christos Tzolis has been offered to Arsenal and is now being considered.

His report claims that Berta is keen on a £35 million deal for the Greek international.

Mokbel added that this comes after Berta’s assistant Maurizio Micheli watched Tzolis play against Sweden last week as the club continued to gather information on the player.

Importantly, Arteta is also said to support the potential signing.

That manager’s backing could prove crucial as Arsenal decide whether to press ahead with their interest.

Tzolis has quietly developed into one of the most prolific strikers in Belgian football over the past year.

The 24-year-old enjoyed an excellent campaign with Club Brugge, scoring 22 goals and providing 29 assists in 52 appearances in all competitions.

Able to operate on either flank and in central attacking positions, Tzolis provides Arsenal’s most versatile form of value when identifying transfer targets.

His direct style of play has made him a tough opponent for defenders, and those qualities have helped him establish himself as one of the best players in the Belgian Pro League.

A reported fee of £35 million would put him below the cost of other marquee targets currently being discussed.

That could make the deal more attractive if Arsenal decide to invest heavily elsewhere in the club.

The interest appears to be genuine, but Arsenal will likely continue to explore all available options before making a final decision.

What is clear, however, is that the club is still fully committed to strengthening its attack.

Whether that means Rogers, Williams, Tzolis or another target remains to be seen.
