Top Middle: It’s Trade Season!!!

Every year, millions of children across the country look forward to this time. Summer break is here! No homework time! Time to sleep! It’s time to tan and play outside! Holidays! Camp! It’s all very exciting. Unless you’re a parent, when this hell seems endless, September can’t get here soon enough. However, this ushers in a time when people take an honest look at their teams and think about next year. And this is where you can get into money with the right moves. Today, we will look at who to trade. This will not tell you who or what to stop. Obviously there are different situations, and I don’t know your league or your score. But what I can tell you about my employers for making fantasy baseball trades:

– Do not trade players. Trading in categories. A contender might be ready to sit it out for a year and move Brandon Lowe. But if you don’t need power, you need speed, it won’t help you. See where you can make a difference and move there. If you’re on the top team, this will require you to do some work and see where you’re losing each week, but the concept is still the same.

– Use your empathy. Be sure to check out the other guy’s team you’re targeting. Ask yourself, “why are they making this move?” Will they need candidates to put themselves in a position to compete next year? Do you have a young boy that you can sell for a living? Make sure you can answer the other guy’s question along with you.

– Choose from the target. Baseball players have reputations. Some guys are known for summer heat, others for consistency. You want to make sure your target has a history of helping out when you need it.

– Selling high is more important than buying low. Did your boy have a hot first two months? Good! Make sure it’s not luck. Baseball is a dumb game where great weeks/months happen. Good players can take advantage of those opportunities. Great players move forward and find their value before they crash.

All that being said, here are my Trade Objectives and the scenarios where I target them.

I need moar powah:

Fernando Tatis Jr.- He has 2b eligibility, and has absorbed it so far this year. You can probably find guys who are ready to give up on her. And now is the time. Historically, Tatis had the best June and July of his career, with just enough fall.

Jazz Chisholm JrJazz woke up in May. But so far he has not done well. But the Jazz are built to draw balls on a short porch at home.

Colson Montgomery- I usually don’t recommend tier 1 players. But what a class for Colson. 135 games in his career and 37 bombs already. If he can raise his rating at all, he’s looking at a star.

I found a need. The need… For speed!!:

Travis Bazzana- In his short time, Bazzana has shown that he is not afraid to be a thief. He can easily get another 20 swipes before the campaign ends.

Trea Turner- His strength is low, but he hasn’t stopped running. You can get him cheap now.

Nico Hoerner- Nico was just like the rest of the Cubs’ offense and has been out for a month. This means his price is low, and you can usually get a hitter up to 280 and you’ll swipe another 15-20 bags for a lot less.

And now, who can sell to increase its value to you:

Otto Lopez- Fish got a good start on Otto, but cmon. His BABIP is 394. That’s a sign of insanity. His value as a top 30 player will decrease as his luck becomes more common.

Brandon Lowe- It’s sad that I put him here. But Griffin and Cruz are now out until at least August, and the Pirates have very little in the way of protection for Lowe now. I don’t like his chances of repeating his first half in this situation.
