Spurs are set to sign the England star for £60m

Tottenham Hotspur’s 2025/26 season looked like it would never end, but it did, and Spurs’ Premier League status remains intact.

It was only 12 months ago that the Lilywhites were dancing in London, celebrating their stunning Europa League triumph with Ange Postecoglou, who would soon be sacked by Daniel Levy.

Tottenham have now recorded a return to 17th place in the Premier League. Something needs to change, and ENIC is working on major changes that will last for years to come.

Spurs are back on target

Tottenham added Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi to the fold last week, signing both defenders on free transfers. However, this good start of the window must quickly release players who are willing to sign, with the aim of strengthening the attack.

Manchester City winger Savinho is at the center of talks between north and south, with Spurs looking to land him after a failed bid last summer.

Tottenham supporters will want to see a striker added to the ranks, but a lack of creativity has plagued the club for a long time, and another early target could change that.

According to Sports Boom, Tottenham are set to enter the market for Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White this summer, one year after a £60m deal collapsed at the eleventh hour. By then, Gibbs-White had agreed personal terms at Spurs, until everything fell apart when Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis offered him a hefty fee to stay at the City Ground.

Now, Spurs are joined by any number of Premier League rivals in the hunt for Gibbs-White’s signature, with Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Manchester United throwing another sponge in the works for their interest.

Gibbs-White is not part of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad despite his outstanding season at Tricky Trees. That opens up the opportunity for the Spurs to sneak in.

Why Gibbs-White would be better than Spurs’ Savinho

With the official summer transfer window almost upon us, it is clear that Tottenham need to make some changes in the creative fields. Gibbs-White would be the perfect addition to that, not only adding more business to management, but adding a combative edge to De Zerbi’s midfield.

Like Savinho, Gibbs-White has been honored with his international suspension ahead of the World Cup, but there is no doubt that the Forest star has a strong case.

Coming off the back of a standout season on an individual level, Gibbs-White has shown two sides to his game over the past two years, both graceful and soft in Forest’s high-flying 2024/25 program before taking on a stronger, stronger form this year, helping his side fight the relegation.

Whether Tottenham succeed in their bid to sign Gibbs-White remains to be seen, but there is no question that he can pack a big punch; beyond the impact of Savinho, for example.

The 22-year-old Brazilian is undoubtedly talented, fast and furious, but he only made seven Premier League starts for Pep Guardiola last season, and despite playing regularly last year, he scored just one goal.

It should go without saying that the Spurs are in no position to make any moves forward in the next few years. Supporters expect to see major changes at the start of the 2026/27 campaign.

Gibbs-White has previously indicated that he is determined to leave the City Ground and sign for Spurs. Admittedly, Tottenham could offer Champions League football one year ago, but they are still tempting him to place himself at the heart of De Zerbi’s exciting project this time around, although there is plenty of competition to contend with.
