Corner Reports: Third base has been tough to place this preseason

A little disclaimer here. I went back and looked at my articles and listed the guys who will start the season. First base, not bad! Everyone has a weak spot here or there. The third base? Um, can we go back to the first base? I had it Matt Olson for the fourth time! It means Bryce Harper would be a good fourth choice?

In the big picture, first base is actually what you’d expect, and predicting third base was as easy as a blindfolded ax throwing contest. A little flurry and odd drop are the hallmarks of third base this year. Lesson learned is not to look down on boys just because they are young. Take a risk, Kelder!

Okay, well, now that it’s written, you probably want to know how bad it was. Here is a link to the referenced article.

Very bad calls

Manny Machado again Austin Riley they were the boys ranked 3-4 in third place. Machado was “banking.” “Because, like pasta, you’re a safe bet.” The guy is hitting .166 and has a 69 WRC+. He was 31 percent worse than the average player. I would say buy low, but that’s too obvious. The guy will never be on my other team, like he’s in the home league and I’m paired with Austin Riley (he’s still in second place, yaboy you know what’s up).

See, I practice what I preach! Riley, 29 years old, seems to be running out of energy. At least Machado performed below his metrics. Riley, on the other hand, is doing exactly what the metrics would predict he would. Neither of these guys have bat speed issues; all their connections. Machado doesn’t fire it, and Riley hits hard. Unless these change, there’s no way I’m going to put them at 3-4 again, unless you combine the two numbers to make 34.

On the first basis, Vinnie Pasquantino at five o’clock there was a noise. .220 with six home runs. I skipped his second half due to the scorching heat of August, which I had on the royal team that moved up 5 spots that month. The plate approach is good, he doesn’t give up a ton, he’s channeling his inside Eric Hosmer.. I’ll have him firmly in the 15-20 range now.

It Takes Too Much

There is nothing good I can do in the third division to start the season. I missed it Josh Junghe came out after cheating on her for two years. Munetaka Murakami, I had a 12 instead and said, “I’ll bet after 200 picks on the power of the light tower,” which went up well. I’m faint Jazz Chisholm Jr. at 8, and he is 10 years old. A small success, indeed. This year was not good for third base.

At first, my top four:

Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., Bryce Harper, Nick Kurtz, Matt Olson.

You didn’t miss layups. I loved me too Freddie Freeman: I’m not predicting a cliffhanger, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few Eric Hosmer-type seasons as Freeman finishes his Hall of Fame career.

Pete Alonso: “Call it out loud, but I hear Chris Davis shaking. Not the cliff/crater version: I’m going .245, 30 HR, 90 RBI”

Alonso is projected to hit .239 with 31 HR, 96 RBI, 85 Runs.

Okay, enough bragging and congratulations. It’s June, and there’s baseball to be analyzed!

Who’s Hot

Miguel Vargassuitable for both CI areas, continues. Over the past seven days, he’s slashed .296/.387/.704, hitting a third home run week. Vargas continues with a 15% walk rate, and with his current contact numbers looking good, he’s a safe bet for the season. In fact, there is an untapped middle ground. However, he is still very valuable. According to Razzball’s projections, he will end up with 27 HR, 91 R, and 80 RBI. He has a legitimate case for the top 50 next year if he can keep this up, and even more if the batting average goes up.

Who’s Absent

Oh, Colt Keithit’s time to ditch that dream, right? Not all, he could have lived a full and happy life, but as a legacy of dreams, it is time to leave him. He is 0 for 16 in his last week, and in his last 30, he is just .188 with a career-high 1 RBI. He may warm up again, but just wait for that. No need to keep him around. I cut him out of my TGFBI spot (7th place, not in bad competition) because I needed it in place of Aaron’s Judge. If he can’t be relegated to a 14-team deep, he’s out of the circle of trust.

Who did you root for in the preseason? Who was sleeping on the floor? Hit it up below in the comments!

Thanks for reading, and have a great week. My next one will be from the Outer Banks of North Carolina, unless the WIFI goes out, as it usually does.
