Wolves are opening talks to sign Raul Jimenez and Rob Edwards who are keen on themselves
Wolverhampton Wanderers are now in talks to sign a “wonderful” transfer target, with manager Rob Edwards determined to secure his signing.
Rob Edwards’ rebuild continues ahead of the Championship campaign
In fact, Wolves were kicked out of the Premier League without much of a fight, collecting just 20 points all season, leaving them 21 points adrift of safety, and Edwards believes a lack of leadership was one of the biggest problems.
“Some experience, some leadership has certainly been something we have missed this season,” said the manager.
“That doesn’t mean players have to be 30 years old, they can be 23 years old who have an amazing knowledge of English football and can be leaders as young players. I think Mane is a leader in a different way. So he can be and it doesn’t mean we’re looking for a certain type.
“The age thing, that’s just a number. The right person, the right thing is what we’re looking for.”
Kieran Trippier could be just what the Old Gold need, ahead of what they hope will be a Championship campaign, with the right-back joining Newcastle United, after captaining the Magpies to the EFL Cup in 2025.
After signing the 35-year-old, Edwards is looking to add another experienced player to his squad.

Wolves are in talks to sign a “wonderful” Premier League player
According to The Daily Mail, Wolves have now opened talks to sign former striker Raul Jimenez, who is set to leave Fulham when his £100,000-a-week contract expires this summer.
Jimenez will be involved in Mexico’s first World Cup match against South Africa on Friday, but the Old Gold have sent officials, hoping they will be able to convince him to return to Molineux.
Edwards is determined to sign the 35-year-old, along with Trippier, as he looks to combine youth and experience to ensure a return to the Premier League.
Former Fulham boss Marco Silva hailed the 126-capped Mexican as “amazing”, and despite his age, he has remained a reliable source of goals for the Cottagers over the past three seasons.

The veteran striker has proven himself at Wolves, scoring 57 goals and 23 assists in 166 games in a successful season, reaching the quarter-finals of the 2019-20 Europa League.
Jimenez’s goal-scoring return to the Premier League last season shows that he still has a lot to offer, especially at Championship level, but given that he is now 35 years old, perhaps a one-year deal would make more sense.
