“The Longest Day of Golf,” although to be honest, we wish it was longer.
It is not that we are cruel. Monday’s final qualifying for the US Open earned the adjective “long” – at 10 sites, players will play 36 holes in hopes of earning a spot in the main dance, which begins on Thursday, June 18 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Long Island, NY It’s sad, no doubt.
The thing is, for those of us watching, it’s colorful. Winners and non-winners. And news, both fun and not-so-fun, from names you may have heard of – Max Homa, Tony Finau, Billy Horschel and Matt Kuchar, among others – as well as from players who may not be familiar. And hey, golf on Monday. The Golf Channel will broadcast these tournaments from noon to 2 pm ET, and from 4 pm to midnight ET.
