Bristol City are interested in Huddersfield striker Joe Taylor
Bristol City are now in the race to sign the “good” former Lincoln City star, with new manager Michael Skubala keen on him.
Pre-season preparations are “under way” at Bristol City
Skubala was appointed as Roy Hodgson’s successor earlier this week, joining Lincoln, after leading the Imps to the League One title last season, and has confirmed the clubs work has begun ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Former boss Lincoln said: “I’m delighted to take on this exciting opportunity. I’ve had really good discussions with the board and James Ellis, who have been very clear about the ambition of the club.
“I’m ready for the challenge ahead and I’m looking forward to meeting the players, staff and fans. Pre-season preparations are underway and we have an important and exciting few months ahead.”
The Robins’ recent Championship campaign has not gone down well, with a 12th-place finish, but they have never looked like play-off contenders, indicating that the new manager may need to make a number of new additions this summer.
After the arrival of the 43-year-old player, it has been revealed that bringing in a new striker is in the plans for the transfer window which is expected to officially open on June 15.
Bristol City enter race to sign ‘top-class’ striker
According to Football Lowdown, Bristol City are now planning to sign Huddersfield Town striker Joe Taylor, who spent last season on loan at another League One club, Wigan Athletic.
Skubala is determined to sign Taylor, who he worked with when he was at Lincoln City, the forward scoring 10 goals and three assists in 19 games for the Imps.
Huddersfield are open to selling the former Wales U21 international this summer, and it is felt that it would take around £2m to tempt the League One side into a sale.
The 23-year-old is ‘one of the first names’ on Skubala’s wish list, and it’s no surprise, given the impact he made on loan at Wigan last season.
The Peterborough-born player scored 18 goals for Latics in all competitions, and was the league’s top scorer for the third season on the spin.

The former Colchester United man proved himself in League Two in the 2023-24 season, before having two impressive campaigns in League One, meaning a move to the Championship is the logical next step.
