ENIC reach an “agreement” to seal Spurs’ best signing since James Maddison

By the skin of their teeth, Tottenham Hotspur remain a Premier League club. It may have been a full stadium party on Sunday but the truth is, it wasn’t time to party.
This was a campaign that all fans will quickly want to forget, as well as the players, especially, the team’s ownership. It’s been chaos from top to bottom and next season needs to be looked at immediately.
Officials know that along with ENIC, the likes of Johan Lange and Vinai Venkatesham are moving quickly to strengthen the playing squad.
Staying put is good news, but fans want to see more progress and development. That all starts with summer additions.
Spurs are already closing in on signing new players
There’s nothing like a new signing to get you excited ahead of the new season and according to reports, Spurs are set to lock down two of their own.
You may remember back in January when Tottenham tried to agree a deal for Liverpool’s famous defender, Andy Robertson.
Although a deal fell through over the winter, the Scotland international is set to ‘sign’ for the Lilywhites this summer. The left-back’s contract at Anfield has come to an end, meaning he can sign for any club he chooses on a free transfer.
That said, ‘Robbo’ is not the only defender said to be on his way to the capital with Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi a target for Roberto De Zerbi and Co.

Tottenham’s most expensive players of all time
A detailed look at the 10 most expensive Spurs signings of all time.
Like Robertson, his contract with the Cherries expires this summer, so Tottenham or any other suitors can sign him without a transfer fee.
The latest in this movement comes courtesy of Fabrizio Romano. Speaking on his YouTube channel on Monday evening, the journalist said: “Tottenham have been in very advanced talks to sign Marcos Senesi. Senesi is leaving and has had opportunities in Italy. He has had several clubs approach him but Spurs remain the clear favorites to sign him.”
Romano continued: “The message from De Zerbi is clear; let’s quickly close the Senesi deal legally to avoid other clubs jumping on the deal and boycotting us. Tottenham has a verbal agreement with Senesi and 24 hours ago, they called the player again and told him that they want him. They are still waiting for him to sign the contract.”
Why Senesi could be Spurs’ best player since James Maddison
If you think Spurs fans have been through hell this season, just imagine how James Maddison must be feeling.
Until the 1-1 draw with Leeds, he had missed every game this season with an ACL injury sustained in pre-season ahead of the ongoing campaign.
He played just five minutes of the clash, but he quickly looked the best player on the pitch, almost pulling away a penalty from the dead as the attacking midfielder went down inside the penalty area.
You can feel that Maddison wants to start the games immediately. Tottenham need him in their bid to secure their Premier League status. However, in the end they chose the best of his work; limited minutes. Maddison played 21 games against Chelsea and eight minutes on Sunday.
One has to wonder where Spurs will be with the £40m signing from Leicester ready for the whole of 2025/26.
Injuries have played a major role in the team’s struggles but not their satisfactory recruitment. Not since Maddison have there been so many success stories in the market.
Since last summer, Mohammed Kudus has spent most of the season injured, while Xavi Simons has only scored two goals in the Premier League.
Since last year, Ange Postecoglou and Co have signed promising young players in the form of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall but they are for the future, not for now.

The £87m star will be completely done away with at Spurs if Marcos Senesi signs
Tottenham are making changes after avoiding relegation from the Premier League.
Therefore, you have to go back three summers ago when Maddison and Micky van de Ven arrived in the same window to get an inch of success. That’s an awfully long time.
As a result, Senesi could be their best signing since 2023. Why? However, Spurs’ defensive problems were no secret.
This season, they scored 57 goals in the league. Only the ax-hewn sides are intruded above. Combine that with the fact that Cristian Romero may have played his last game for Tottenham and they need a replacement, they need a Premier League proven player like Senesi.
This would be an excellent signing. He was one of the best defenders in the division this season. Only one defender in the league recorded more saves per 90 minutes (11.4) than Senesi and that was Kevin Danso with 12.
Furthermore, only five defensemen have scored more times in 90 than Senesi’s 1.5. This is a player who likes to defend but is not only aggressive when not playing.

He is well integrated with the ball at his feet, as the numbers above confirm. Quite simply, he is one of the most improved defenders in the game right now.
Like Van de Ven, Senesi is something of a dual threat. A powerful defender, who also likes to get into the lines to get his team ahead.
Sure, the Argentinian may not play the forward role that Maddison does but this signing looks like it could be a huge success on paper, possibly ENIC’s best in years.
