Man United have read the player’s asking price for midfielder Tchouaméni
Manchester United’s summer rebuild could be ambitious, with Real Madrid star Aurélien Tchouaméni reportedly touted as a “dream” signing at Old Trafford.
According to Fabrizio Romano, United admire the French midfielder very much and believe he can have the impact of changing Casemiro on his first move from Real Madrid.
The problem, of course, is the price. Any deal for Tchouaméni would cost upwards of 100 million euros, making it very difficult, even for a club with the resources of Manchester United.
It’s easy to see why United love Tchouaméni so much. He is dynamic, composed, tactically astute and already has extensive experience with Real Madrid and France.
He can play as a defensive midfielder, move into a box-to-box role, break up attacks and help control the quality of games.

In short, he is exactly the type of midfielder United have been looking for.
There are also Casemiro comparisons. When Casemiro joined United, he gave them authority, leadership and defensive security.
United now appear to believe Tchouaméni can provide a younger, longer-term version of that same effect.
With Casemiro’s departure, United’s midfield needs a new leader and the right physical presence.
But the situation is not just about signing a star. Kobbie Mainoo’s revival has changed the whole picture.
The Athletic reported that Mainoo rejected a £40 million move to Chelsea last summer after struggling under Ruben Amorim.
That decision now looms large as the 21-year-old has been reborn under Carrick and has once again been seen as a key part of United’s future.

Carrick’s trust in him has clearly helped him. United’s official website recently revealed that the manager is looking carefully at midfielders who can match Mainoo, rather than simply taking what the club already has.
That’s an important detail because it suggests United aren’t just buying names, they’re trying to build a middle ground.
This is where Tchouaméni has an interesting idea. A midfield built around Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes and Tchouaméni can look very serious.
Mainoo could play with more freedom, Bruno would still provide intelligence, and Tchouaméni would give the team strength and protection behind them.
United should definitely check out Tchouaméni, but they must not let one expensive target dominate the summer. If a deal happens, it could change their midfield.
