The 16-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest young players in German football and is expected to be one of the most sought-after young talents in the summer transfer window.

Taking to X on Tuesday, Plettenberg reported that Liverpool entered the race for Eichhorn in a “substantial” manner, with discussions already taking place between the relevant parties.

According to a respected journalist, sources in England have confirmed that meaningful discussions have taken place as Liverpool are positioning themselves to compete for the signing of young players.

Plettenberg also said that Eichhorn plans to leave Hertha BSC once the transfer window opens, increasing the possibility of a big move this summer.

A reported release clause worth between 10 million euros and 12 million euros would make the youngster an attainable target for several European clubs.

For a player considered one of Germany’s top youth prospects, that valuation could prove attractive to clubs looking to secure top talent before prices skyrocket.

Speaking to X, Plettenberg said: “EXCLUSIVE | Liverpool have entered the race for the impressive 16-year-old Kenneth Eichhorn. Concrete negotiations have already taken place, as sources from England confirm. Eichhorn plans to leave Hertha BSC in the summer. A release clause worth around €10-12m on our News program at 6pm tonight.”

Despite being only 16 years old, the young German is already attracting attention for his technical ability, tactical intelligence, and long-term strength.

Scouts across Europe are believed to be monitoring his progress, with Liverpool now emerging as major contenders in the race for his signature.

Manchester City is among the top clubs interested in signing the German player while Arsenal and Man United are also linked with him.

Bayern Munich is also said to be keeping a close eye on the youngster.

A modest release clause also presents a low-risk, high-flying opportunity for a club of Liverpool’s stature.

Liverpool continue their strategy of signing elite young talent

The club is already close to completing the move for youngster Samuel Martinez, and the interest in Eichhorn underscores a clear long-term transfer strategy.

If Liverpool succeed in beating rival clubs to Eichhorn’s signature, they could secure one of the continent’s most promising young players before his stock rises even further.
