Liverpool are monitoring Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Chevalier

If you asked any Liverpool supporter a few months ago how the post-Alisson Becker era would play out, most would have pointed straight to Giorgi Mamardashvili and considered the case closed.
But with the summer transfer window approaching, the situation could change quickly as the Merseyside club consider options in the market should Alisson leave.
Although the 33-year-old recently penned an extension that ties him to Anfield until 2027, he has been linked with a move to Serie A side Juventus.
You’d think that Alisson’s exit simply resulted in Mamadashvili’s automatic anointing as the undisputed number one. Instead, emerging reports claim that Liverpool’s top brass are not entirely comfortable handing over the keys to the Georgian without a backup plan.
The Reds are interested in a move for the Ligue 1 star
This is where Lucas Chevalier comes into the picture. According to TuttoJuve, Liverpool are looking to move the goalkeeper of Paris Saint-Germain.
The French goalkeeper, 24, is facing a difficult situation at Paris Saint-Germain.
Just last summer, PSG shelled out around €40 million to bring him from Lille as a replacement for Gianluigi Donnarumma.
But life under Luis Enrique can be notorious, following a shaky start at the Parc des Princes, Chevalier found himself benched in favor of Matvey Safonov.
Now, despite having a contract that runs until 2030, Chevalier is firmly on the market, and Liverpool’s scouting department are said to be willing to offer him a way to escape to the Premier League.
As if that wasn’t enough drama, Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez has also been touted as a potential wild card target if Villa are forced into a big summer sale.
Should Liverpool be eyeing a move for PSG’s goalkeeper?
If he has already struggled to settle at PSG, Liverpool will need to be very confident that he has the mentality to handle Anfield, the Premier League and the pressure of replacing a top player.
Signing Chevalier over Mamadashvili would create an awkward situation unless there is a clear plan in place. Two young goalkeepers fighting for the same place sounds good in theory, but in reality, goalkeepers need rhythm, trust and regular performances.
Liverpool should fully replace Mamardashvili or bring in an experienced goalkeeper like Martinez for a short-term change.
Chevalier only makes sense if the party sincerely believes that he is better suited for their future than Mamadashvili.
Alisson’s departure could have a big impact on the atmosphere and the football, so it makes sense for Richard Hughes and the recruitment team to look at different options early on.
