Newcastle are preparing to sign Gordon’s replacement in a £30m deal

Newcastle United are now preparing for a shock move to sign Jaidon Anthony from Burnley this summer, as they continue to search for a replacement for Anthony Gordon.
The latest on Anthony Gordon’s departure from Bayern Munich
It’s déjà vu for Newcastle ahead of the summer transfer window. Finally, it was Alexander Isak who looked set to leave before securing a record move to Liverpool. Now, one year later, Bayern Munich’s interest in Gordon will create another unwanted transfer saga for the Magpies.
Eddie Howe may have dropped the transfer window after the game against Nottingham Forest last weekend, telling the media: “I think we have one eye on the future. I think that is clear from some of the decisions I made with the team. We want to see certain players and see how they will grow in the team.”
Gordon was sidelined due to injury, but returned to the bench last weekend and failed to make an appearance. The talented winger has already received contact with Bayern and that move would be impossible to refuse.
“He’s like Mbappe”: Newcastle have already signed Gordon’s replacement
Newcastle may have already signed a replacement for Anthony Gordon ahead of the summer transfer window.
That presents Newcastle with a big problem. In a dysfunctional offense, Gordon has provided one bright spark this season. Take him out and the rebuilding job becomes even more difficult this summer.
Alas, it’s one possibility the Magpies have been forced into and are already exploring their options as a result, even turning to the dropped attacking star.
Jaidon Anthony is studying in Newcastle
According to SportsBoom, Newcastle are preparing to sign Anthony from Burnley this summer. The reduced Clarets have put in a £30m asking price ahead of the transfer window, which should be achievable even without European qualification for the Magpies.
Whether Anthony will solve the Magpies’ Gordon problem is another question, however. The midfielder has impressed at times for Burnley this season and while it’s easy to write him off, the numbers suggest he can replace Gordon.

Anthony has outperformed the Newcastle star in a number of key departments this season and, most importantly, has been clinical in front of goal.
Former Burnley manager Scott Parker often praised his striker, telling reporters earlier this season: “He’s an unbelievable character. He’s hardworking. He’s got a lot of work to do. He’s always looking to improve. His raw ability added to that is what we all see. It gives him great opportunities and you can see it in his performances right now.”
So, while it may be a surprising choice, Anthony could be a very good piece of business if Newcastle push for his signature this summer.
