West Brom star George Campbell is open to joining Celtic this summer on one condition

George Campbell is now ready to ignore interest from the Bundesliga by moving to Celtic this summer on one condition.

Campbell opens up on Celtic move

The Bhoys have a lot to do this summer and since they have to start by finding a new manager, they have one eye on the transfer window.

Celtic are stepping up plans to sign Nicolas Kuhn next at Parkhead this summer

Celtic’s forward line still appears to be in dire need of strengthening this summer.

Scottish Premiership or not, Celtic are well aware that they need to overhaul themselves in the coming months. As hearts continue to soar and the Rangers remain within striking distance of Danny Rohl, they can’t afford another tumultuous campaign like the last nine months.

That could mean the arrival of impressive names. Soufiane El Faouzi and Motherwell striker Tawanda Maswahise have both threatened to steal the headlines in recent weeks, and both would be excellent additions.

No player has scored more goals than Maswanhise in the Scottish Premiership this season (17)

Maswanhise is the one to watch. He would certainly solve the problem of the Celtic striker, which has forced Daizen Maeda to leave the position and finally be in form.

But it’s not just their front line where the Hoops are aiming to improve this summer. According to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, Campbell is open to joining Celtic if they qualify for the Champions League this season.

Valued at £2.5m, the West Bromwich Albion defender is interested in the Bundesliga, but is open to a move to the Scottish giants on that one condition this summer.

That is a huge boost for the Boys, who are in the running for the second round of the Champions League by finishing second in the Scottish Premiership ahead of Rangers. And things could get even better if they finish top of the tree and reach the Champions League play-offs.

Campbell could replace Liam Scales

It has not been an easy campaign for Celtic. They have conceded more goals than both Hearts and Rangers, highlighting their biggest problem they must solve if they want to reassert their dominance next season.

This is where Campbell could step in to replace Liam Scales in the rapid development. The American started 33 of West Brom’s 40 Championship games this season, playing a key role as the Baggies climbed to survival. Now, you may be headed for bigger and better things.

Although Scales tends to be better at holding the ball, he lacks the aggressiveness of Campbell and that aggressiveness could be the key to Celtic regaining control of Scottish football.

The tournament star has a lot to think about, especially if Celtic qualify for the Champions League this season. At 24 years old, the American is at the peak of his powers and could solve one of the Bhoys’ biggest problems.
