Rangers could sign new Raskin by beating Celtic for the £9m star

Glasgow Rangers defenders may already have one eye on what will happen in the upcoming summer transfer window at Ibrox.

Although there is a battle for the Scottish Premiership title going on, there is a lot of work to be done in the summer and work will continue to develop the squad.

The Light Blues will be looking at potential arrivals to strengthen the squad, such as Leeds United striker Joel Piroe, who has been linked with a move to Glasgow.

However, there may be players who end up leaving Ibrox due to interest from other clubs, such as midfielder Nicolas Raskin.

A number of Premier League sides, including Tottenham Hotspur, are reportedly eyeing the Belgian ahead of the summer window.

Danny Rohl’s plan to keep Nicolas Raskin at Rangers

Amid this interest in the former Standard Liege player, Danny Rohl has reportedly made plans to keep the midfielder at Ibrox at the end of the window.

Football Insider recently reported that the German head coach plans to convince Raskin to give the Gers another year of service before he is given the green light to pursue a move in 2027.

The Belgian star, who has scored seven goals and provided nine assists in all competitions this season, will have just one year left on his contract at the end of next season, making it the perfect time to pay him.

It is an interesting plan of action from Rohl because it can work better for all parties involved, as the Gers can get another year of his talent, Raskin will know that he is free to leave next year, and interested parties will have 12 months to prepare to make offers.

While the 25-year-old star may be set to stay at Ibrox for another year, the Gers could also sign their next generation of Belgian talent in the summer window.

Rangers could beat Celtic to sign new signing Nicolas Raskin

The Gers and Celtic are reportedly interested in signing the player who could arrive at Ibrox as Rohl’s next move for Raskin in the middle of the park.

TEAMtalk reported last month that Rangers have held talks with Hacken over a deal to sign Silas Andersen in the January transfer window, with only a summer move set to become a reality, as they are still keen on a midfielder.

The Danish star, who is a £9m target by his club, is reportedly being targeted by fierce rivals Celtic, who emerged as one of the frontrunners for his signing in March.

If the Gers can’t beat the Hoops until the 21-year-old is signed, Rohl could simply replace Raskin in the building for 12 months before allowing the Belgian to leave Ibrox.

Andersen’s performance in Hacken’s 2025 Allsvenskan shows that he is a striking and combative midfielder who can break up a game more effectively than Raskin, who currently leads Rangers in appearances (81).

The Dane isn’t quite the attacking force, with two goals and two assists in the 2025 campaign, but he can chip in with goals and assists to go along with his impressive defensive work.

It is also worth remembering that Raskin scored only one goal in his last 18 months in the Pro League with Standard Liege before signing for Rangers, which shows that the Gers can work with Andersen to improve his attacking output.

As a Belgian, however, the £9m star will arrive at Ibrox as a midfielder who can dominate the opposition’s midfield with his ability to win tackles, interceptions and duels at an impressive rate.

At 21 years of age, Andersen is also four years younger than Raskin and could emerge as his successor in Glasgow, should the current Gers star leave the club next year.

Bojan-Miovski-Rangers

Rangers have been given the green light to sign Miovski in a £10m move from Leeds

Rangers could part ways with Bojan Miovski by making a move for this reported transfer target in the summer.
