Man Utd’s £65m target is now keen to sign for Arsenal

And with that, Bukayo Saka is back. Arsenal were desperate for their project boy to emerge in this title race and on a wet and windy day at the Emirates Stadium, he duly delivered.

Truth be told, by Saka’s high standards, this has been a difficult season on a personal note. Yes, he’s struggled with injuries, but his goal and assist numbers have fallen far short of what you’d normally expect.

Before scoring Arsenal’s second goal in the Gunners’ 3-0 win over Fulham on Saturday, he had not scored in seven games. In fact, he has only scored two goals since December.

However, he is now back in form, not only scoring goals but also providing the assist with a fine skill to give Viktor Gyokeres his opener.

There has been a huge improvement in the quality of Arsenal’s attacking play but that doesn’t mean their plans for this summer have to change.

Arsenal are looking for a new player this summer

Arsenal may have scored the most goals in the Premier League this season but that doesn’t paint the full picture.

In recent weeks, they have struggled in the final third. Until Sunday’s 3-0 win, Arteta’s men had not scored more than one goal in their last eight matches.

It has sparked a heated debate about what needs to be changed. A left winger should be high on the agenda, with links to the likes of Bradley Barcola and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia emerging in recent weeks.

Another player on their radar is Ajax’s Mika Godts. The Belgian is one of the most exciting young players in Europe at the moment and has many clubs after his signature, including Manchester United.

A record signing for Arsenal

Arsenal’s most expensive signing of all time

The Gunners have spent a lot of money in recent years.

However, it is Arsenal who appear to be in a good position to secure his services. This was said by club insider Hand of Arsenal, who took to social media this weekend to reveal the following.

He said: “Arsenal are tracking Mika Godts. My understanding is that the Belgian would be very open to joining Arsenal if we could increase our interest and make a serious move for him.”

It won’t be a cheap deal as previous reports suggest it would take £65m to prize him away from the Eredivisie.

Why Godts could be Arsenal’s new Saka

Arsenal must sign a new player this summer. If they don’t, it will be a huge failure on Andrea Berta’s part.

This season, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have struggled a lot. The former has found the net just once in the Premier League in 2025/26 and the latter has not scored in his last 23 games. He has yet to hit anything in 2026.

That said, Trossard made a big improvement against Fulham on Saturday. Godts’ international team-mate provided a good assist for Gyokeres’ third goal, creating two big chances in general and completing six of his balls. It was an interesting performance from the Belgian.

However, now is the time to fire him. It’s time for the Gods to come. A left winger by trade, the 20-year-old looks every bit the right-footed Saka.

In this campaign, the young player has scored 17 goals and provided 14 assists in 40 games. He doesn’t just score goals, he is an extremely good creator.

He is able to create a lot of space through his playmaking ability and progressive nature. Like Saka, his ability to create opportunities for others to score is at a high level. Only three players in Europe’s top seven leagues this season have created more than 70 chances and finished more than 70 games.

One of them is Gods and the other two are Kenan Yildiz of Juventus and Lamine Yamal of Barcelona. He is doing well.

A fantastic dribbler, he is good in tight spaces and is a fantastic match for Saka in both taking and creating chances for the rest of the season.

There may be some apprehension about this deal. Antony’s performance after arriving from Dutch football is well documented but there have been more recent success stories. Arsenal need only look at Jurrien Timber to see that. Robin van Persie has done well after being traded between England and the Netherlands.

If the move is anywhere near as successful as that, Arsenal will have a very good player on their hands, possibly another version of Saka.

With Trossard and Martinelli out of form for a while now, Godts’ signature is a must this summer.
