Liverpool v Crystal Palace: Text analysis, updates, goals and stats for the Premier League clash

Liverpool can take a big step towards securing a Champions League place next season with a win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Reds’ pursuit of a top-five finish was boosted by their win at Everton on Sunday with Virgil van Dijk’s late strike and Chelsea’s defeat at home to Manchester United.

The home game against Palace is an excellent opportunity to collect three points, the visitors may have one eye on Thursday’s Conference League semi-final first leg against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot remains wary of an Eagles side who beat them on penalties in the Community Shield and back-to-back Premier League and EFL Cup games this season.

He said: “As usual, the thing that makes it difficult is the players you play against have a good team, they already had a good team two or three years ago.

“They have a good manager [Oliver Glasner] who can bring a lot of morals to that group. It’s really hard to create chances against them.

“It doesn’t matter what game you watch, you don’t see another team creating an opportunity to play with them.

“On the other hand, they are very direct in their attacking style. They conceded a couple of goals behind Arsenal. [and Manchester City]. That tells you a lot.”

Outgoing manager Glasner will take charge of Palace at Anfield for the last time and says his players have a “great chance” of a fourth win in 2025/26 against them.

“If we win twice against Liverpool, it’s great,” said the Austrian. “Three wins is amazing. Now we have the chance to beat Liverpool four times in one season.

“It’s unique – you don’t play a team like Liverpool four times a year. Three wins is already big.

“We are very happy and motivated because maybe this will never happen again. Anfield is an amazing stadium.
