Manchester United have told the £70m star they want to sign him, personal terms have been agreed

Manchester United have informed the midfielder that they may pursue him this summer, with personal terms already agreed, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Manchester United targets: Aurelien Tchouameni, Carlos Baleba
Manchester United are considering a summer move for Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni as the club consider their options at the back.
Champions League qualification is within touching distance for the third-placed Red Devils, who sit eight points and a game in hand on sixth-placed Brighton.
United are facing a big summer as they look to start next season, including spending big on signing two midfielders.
Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United will sign new midfielders this summer
The Red Devils will be busy this summer.
It was announced in January that the legendary Casemiro will leave when his contract expires four years after leaving Real, his French international Tchouameni is part of United’s squad.
The 26-year-old had been linked with United, Liverpool and Paris St Germain before taking a big-money move from Monaco to Madrid two months before Brazil international Casemiro left for Old Trafford.
United are interested in Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson but reports suggest the Englishman is interested in a move to Manchester City.
Brighton’s Carlos Baleba was a target last summer, and Fabrizio Romano has revealed that United have told the Seagulls star that he could renege on the deal, having agreed personal terms.
“What happened in August 2025 was that they had an agreement at Manchester United with Carlos Baleba on a personal basis. Baleba wanted to go to Man Utd, but Brighton closed the doors. So Man United told the player that ‘maybe we can revisit the agreement in the summer of 2026’ and now Carlos Baleba remains on the list of candidates for United.
“He was referred to Ruben Amorim and he remains focused in the evaluation department, so let’s see what happens with the permanent manager, with Michael Carrick, with the team, decisions on the budget and what Brighton want to do.
“There are still a few things, but Carlos Baleba is still a name on Manchester United’s list of candidates. What I can tell you is that that verbal agreement, nothing is signed and nothing is sealed, but that verbal agreement between Baleba and Manchester United from the summer of 2025 is still valid.”
Baleba, who is reportedly a £70m summer signing, has underperformed for Brighton this season after being sidelined by interest from United, who has started 20 Premier League games.

Romano has previously reported that United will spend big on signing two “key” midfield players, contrary to previous speculation that they would bring in one cheap option with a marquee arrival.
