Big money heir Salah ready to move to Liverpool

Arne Slot’s second season at Liverpool has not been easy, but it looks like the third time could be the charm for the under-fire manager, backed by FSG ahead of the summer transfer window.

Now there is a decision that will divide opinion. On the other hand, Slot won the Premier League last season, sending his opponents with confidence, thinking and defeating his fellow managers.

Remove one first, and you will have a disastrous campaign that will produce no silverware and can only secure a place in next year’s Champions League due to the disorganization of their rivals and the extension of fifth place due to efficiency levels.

In short, Liverpool have been off the rails this season, and if Slot is to lead a successful revival, he will need FSG to provide him with the perfect replacement for Mohamed Salah this summer.

There is no pressure then.

Liverpool are meeting with the family’s biggest target in the summer

Liverpool are expected to continue with the Slot, which means, for better or worse, it will be easier to strategize ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. That season will be crucial for the coach who will need to start quickly to appease the Reds.

With Hugo Ekitike sidelined for (probably) the rest of the calendar year, Alexander Isak needs to start paying back the record £125m deal that saw him join Newcastle United last summer. Salah’s departure underscores that.

But he will need support, and it could come in the form of RB Leipzig striker Yan Diomande, who has been in inspired form for the Germans this season.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are accelerating negotiations to sign the 20-year-old, and it is understood that personal terms will not be an issue, with the player keen on a move to Merseyside.

Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig

Diomande is valued at around £87m by his employers, who do not want to sell but may have the power to resist Liverpool’s financial might.

The winner may be a young Reds fan, but the likes of Arsenal are also showing strong interest.

Why Isak would like Diomande at Liverpool

Diomande is still young, but once you’re good enough, you’re old enough, and the Ivory Coast player is already on the rise in the Bundesliga.

In all competitions this season, he has scored 13 goals and provided eight assists in 32 appearances, but it is his pace, power and all-roundness that can make such a difference in Salah’s place on the right wing.

Such a high-octane attack could make the difference, unlocking Isak’s world-class quality, quiet since his arrival last year.

Diomande was once known to few, but those who saw the young player in action were amazed by his power. “He was unstoppable even then”, said journalist Bence Bocsak.

He’s only getting better, and his pace and work ethic are on a par with Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon. This is a player that Liverpool are interested in, but Diomande could be the one to choose, who gives Isak a support act of a certain style, improving his skills.

Diomande is still developing, but has already shown that he has what it takes to progress to the Premier League, and his chances of achieving this will increase tenfold with the confident and sharp Isak at number nine.

Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig

Diomande will not be expected to waltz into Anfield and perform with Salah’s heyday. He is five years younger than the Egyptian when he joined Rome.

But Diomande can impress in the off, in his own way. Alongside Isak, this could be the start of something special for a Liverpool team desperate to return to the limelight.
