The regular season that started back on October 10 comes to a close today with a six-game schedule and a lot at stake.
One Calder Cup Playoff spot is up for grabs as the teams prepare to play Game 72. Here’s a look at where things stand on the final day of the AHL 90 regular season:
North Division
Getting rid of anger is Utica Comets sending the final AHL playoff race down to the wire. Eighteen points out of a playoff spot at the All-Star break, and eight points back as recently as last Friday, the Comets are in fifth place. The Americans of Rochester with a 4-2 win at Providence last night to cap their streak at 8-1-1-1 in their last 11 games.
Rochester, meanwhile, saw its losing streak hit four games with an 8-0 loss at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The Amerks have one chance to retake Utica; they need one point at Hershey tonight to qualify for the postseason. A loss would send the Comets to the playoffs.
Third place – and a bye to the semi-finals of the division – will be decided today as well The Cleveland Monsters hold a one-point lead over the Toronto Marlies both teams play in the afternoon. Cleveland moved into third place with a win against Grand Rapids, with a loss at Toronto vs. Laval, or if both the Monsters and Marlies get one point. The Marlies hold the title if the teams finish even on points.
I The Laval Rocket (1) won the North Division two years in a row, too The Syracuse Crunch (2) get second place.
ATLANTIC DIVISION
I The Providence Bruins (1) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (2) received byes in the Atlantic Division semifinals, while Charlotte Checkers (3) and The Bridgeport Islanders (4) will be higher seeds in the first round.
I The Springfield Thunderbirds hold a one-point lead over the The Hershey Bears in fifth place heading into Day 192. The Thunderbirds’ fate is in Hershey’s hands; a Bears win over Rochester today gives Hershey fifth place, while a loss gives Springfield fifth.
CENTRAL DIFFERENCE
The Central Division picture is set after the Texas StarsA 5-1 win over Rockford last night gave them third place and set up a semi-final matchup with the team. Chicago wolves (2). I Manitoba Moose (4) will handle i Milwaukee Admirals (5) in a best-of-three first-round series that begins Wednesday in Winnipeg.
Division champion The Grand Rapids Griffins (1) wait in their first unit; The Griffins wrap up their regular season in Cleveland today.
PACIFIC DIVISION
I Dominion of Ontario (1) won their first title since 2015-16, giving them a berth in the Pacific semifinals.
The series of the first three rounds will see The Colorado Eagles (2) take i San Diego Gulls (7), be Henderson Silver Knights (3) fighting San Jose Barracuda (6), and Coachella Valley Firebirds (4) will have a domestic advantage against Bakersfield Condors accommodations (5) following their 6-4 win at San Diego last night.
Complete playoff schedules will be announced at the conclusion of Sunday’s game. The first round of the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs will be a best-of-three series, followed by a best-of-five division semifinal and division final, a best-of-seven conference final and a best-of-seven Calder Cup final.
