Arda Guler shocked Bayern Munich with a long-range strike inside 45 seconds after Neuer’s foul – but the hosts canceled it out minutes later.

Guler leveled the tie within 45 seconds – only for Bayern to go back in front minutes later
Arda Guler capitalized on Manuel Neuer’s mistake to silence the Allianz Arena with a long-range strike inside 45 seconds of the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich.
But after Real leveled the game early on, Bayern were back in front a few minutes later through Aleksandar Pavlovic.
Real started the game with a draw after losing 2-1 at the Bernabeu last week but equalized just seconds after a goal that was hot as it turned out to be a disaster through Neuer’s mistake.
After Bayern kicked off, the ball returned to Bayern’s goalkeeper, who scored the match in the first leg, who received a poor pass.
The 40-year-old player played it straight to Guler, who had the opportunity to shoot and beat the stopper out of the area.
The Turkish player made no mistake from 35 yards as he struck first time with his left foot as the ball flew to make it 2-2 at the end of the game.
Pavlovic guided Bayern back to back in the away game
But after just a few minutes, Bayern went ahead again and this time it was Andriy Lunin’s turn to make a mistake as he didn’t get close to Joshua Kimmich’s accidental corner.
Lunin appeared to be behind his line as the corner swung in, allowing Aleksandar Pavlovic an easy chance to score the equalizer to make it 1-1 on the night and 3-2 away.

Bayern Munich v Real Madrid statistics
- Bayern’s first-leg victory ended a nine-game winless run against Madrid in the Champions League (D2 L7).
- Only once before had they won both legs of a knockout tie against Madrid in the competition, in the 2000/01 semi-finals (1-0 away, 2-1 at home).
- The two players who made the most defensive passes in the Champions League this season are Joshua Kimmich (17) of Bayern and Arda Guler (16) of Madrid.
- Eight of Kimmich’s 17 goals came from Michael Olise, who went from one player to another in the process.
- Bayern’s Harry Kane has scored in his last four Champions League games (6 goals) and would equal the longest scoring streak by an English player in the competition (5, by Steven Gerrard in 2007/08)
- Kane could become the first player to score or assist in five consecutive Champions League games against Real Madrid (2 goals, 2 assists in his last 4)
- Nine of Mbappe’s 14 goals in the Champions League this season have been away from home. Should he find the net in the match, the forward will become the first player to score at least 10 long-range goals in a single edition of the tournament.
- Since the start of the 2013/14 season, Madrid (3) have the most joint wins against Bayern Munich in all competitions, although they have played only four times (also 3 wins from 17 matches against Borussia Dortmund and 3 wins from 13 matches against Borussia Monchengladbach)
- Madrid are unbeaten in their last four away games against Bayern (W3 D1). In the Bundesliga era (since 1963/64), only two sides managed to go five in a row without losing to Bayern: Werder Bremen (5, from 1989/1992 and 2007/2010) and Koln (5, from 2003-2010)
- Los Blancos have played in the most semi-finals in the history of the competition (33). However, if he is eliminated here, he will have failed to reach the semi-finals as many times in the last two seasons (2) as he has in the last 14 editions combined, between 2010/11 and 2023/24 (2)
- Vinicius Junior made 17 runs behind the opposing defensive line during the first leg; more about the player against Bayern in the Champions League this season
- The midfielder made the most runs at the back in this season as a whole (150), as well as in the knockout stage (76).
