Rohl may have just found a new Rangers Hagi

Glasgow Rangers scored six away goals on Sunday for the first time since beating Forfar Athletic six times in the SFA Cup in February 2002.

The Light Blues came from 2-0 down against Falkirk in the Scottish Premiership and won 6-3, making it the league game with the most goals under Danny Rohl so far.

Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski both found the net in the second half, while Nicolas Raskin and Tochi Chukwuani got their names on the scoresheet.

The previous teams of Rangers were accused of being cut down by the pressure in the title races, since it has been five years since they won this division, but Rohl’s proves that they cannot be accused of the same.

The German coach continues to find solutions to problems on the field and off the field, it was his decision that changed the game on Sunday.

How Danny Rohl won Rangers the game against Falkirk

Some Rangers fans decided to boo the team in the first half when the score was 2-0 to Falkirk, which was understandable given what was at stake and how poor the performance had been up to that point.

Chukwuani’s goal before the break gave Rohl a chance to speak to the team at half-time and encourage them to keep kicking in the second half, with the help of a key change.

The former manager of Sheffield Wednesday replaced Mike Moore with Bojan Miovski and moved to a 4-4-2 with Thelo Aasgaard on the right and Djeidi Gassama from the right to the left.

Not only did Miovski make a big impact with his two goals for the Light Blues, but Gassama also looked more comfortable on the left and set up both of Chermiti’s goals on that side of the pitch.

Rohl saw the space Rangers had in the first half and added another striker, the former Aberdeen ace, to take advantage of those situations, and he did.

The German coach continues to prove that he is an innovative and dynamic coach who can get the best out of players. On that last point, the Rangers boss got his own version of Ianis Hagi at Ibrox.

How Danny Rohl discovered Rangers’ new Ianis Hagi

In the Gers’ last league title under Steven Gerrard, Hagi scored seven goals and provided 11 assists as a versatile star who can play as an attacking midfielder or out wide in the Premiership.

Now, Thelo Aasgaard is emerging as that Rohl player in the current squad, despite a difficult first season at Ibrox for the Norwegian.

The Liverpool-born player played a key role in Falkirk’s comeback with a fine touch past Raskin to make it 3-2 in the second half.

Aasgaard has one goal and two assists in his last three games for Rangers, which shows that he is coming under pressure in the title race.

He has scored four goals and provided three assists in his last 11 starts for the Light Blues in the Premiership, after returning with one goal and one assist in his first 13 league outings for the club.

In the 6-3 win over Falkirk, Aasgaard was a monster for the Scottish giants, especially in the second half after a difficult opening 45, as he won seven of his seven duels and provided an assist for Raskin.

Hagi won 51% of his Premiership home matches in the 2020/21 campaign, while Aasgaard won 64% of his season. Both players are attacking midfielders who can hold their own in physical contests, even if they sometimes look fragile in their movements.

The issue with the Norwegian talent in the first half of the season was that he looked a bit out of style and wasn’t producing goals or assists regularly.

Now, however, Aasgaard is starting to add more goals to his game and looks like the type of player, just like Hagi was, who can provide a goal or an assist when Rangers need a spark in the final third.
