Man Utd are officially looking to land the “real deal” forward favored by Van Nistelrooy
Manchester United are preparing a transfer route to sign Leicester City star Jeremy Monga following their first season in the Championship.
Man Utd plan for Monga ahead of Leeds game
Man United will have the chance to continue strengthening themselves in the Champions League places on Monday night, when they take on rivals Leeds United, who are fighting for their lives at the other end of the Premier League table.
Although Leeds are involved in a relegation battle, Michael Carrick is not underestimating their opponents, saying: “I think they are a really good team. I think Daniel [Farke] he changed from when they were in the Championship and I was at Middlesbrough. They are a really dangerous group that has evolved from certain things, adapted to certain things.
“But I think they’ve had a really good season and they’re not giving up too much, especially lately. They’ve defended well and it’s going to be a tough game, a really tough game.”
Carrick has looked at a remarkable turnaround since replacing Ruben Amorim in the dugout, but Mark Goldbridge is keen for United to take the next step, and insisted INEOS must bring in Anthony Gordon this summer.
However, Man United appear to be focused on bringing in the lesser-known winger, with a report from TEAMtalk revealing that they are now ready to make an official move for Leicester winger Monga, who is the target of a number of top clubs.
Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Aston Villa are also said to be interested in the 16-year-old, along with European giants Real Madrid, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.
As you would expect, Leicester are determined to keep hold of the youngster, but it could be a tall order, considering they are looking down the relegation barrel, sitting four points off Championship safety.
It’s been a terrible season for Mpungshe, and the youngster has managed to force his way into the first team, playing 25 games, scoring one goal and two assists.
Former Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy is a big fan of the star, saying during his time with the Foxes: “Jeremy is a great talent for me who is an important part of the future of this club. We are looking to start negotiations to keep him at the club. It is important to me that that can be successful. We are planning that.”
Hailed as “the real deal” by scout Ben Mattinson, Monga is certainly for the future, but with United poised to return to the Champions League, it would also be important to bring in proven top-class strikers.

A move to Old Trafford could be a very attractive proposition come the summer, and Carrick wants to make the most of it, with the manager now pushing United to sign Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers.
The Red Devils could also see an £87m bid accepted for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, who has terrorized defenses in the Bundesliga this season, netting 11 goals and seven assists in 28 appearances.
