Tottenham Hotspur are active after signing Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini and their interest in Andy Robertson this summer.
Tottenham are in a good position to sign Robertson
Avoiding relegation will be Roberto De Zerbi’s priority in the coming weeks, but signing Robertson is likely to be second on the list. The Liverpool defender announced he would be leaving Anfield as a free agent earlier this week, opening the way for the Lilywhites to finish the job they started in January.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, it is Tottenham who are most likely to sign the left-back this summer and welcome a much-needed leader.
There is still a lot of work to be done if Spurs are to do a deal, but the early signs are good. Given that the base has been in place since January as well, the only obstacle standing in their way is their concern for survival.
Even though I’m 32 years old, Robertson’s deal makes sense. De Zerbi needs to oversee a transformative summer in North London and there aren’t many better ways to start that than by welcoming a Premier League winner.

Apart from that, however, Tottenham also have other transfer plans. Alongside Robertson, reports say that the Lilywhites are eyeing the Serie A star.

According to TeamTalk, Tottenham are now working behind the scenes to sign Scalvini from Atalanta. The centre-back has returned to fitness after an ACL injury and is firmly back on the radar of both North Londoners and Newcastle United ahead of the summer transfer window.
At 22, it makes sense that Scalvini is on Tottenham’s radar. With the futures of club captain Cristian Romero and fellow defender Micky van de Ven in doubt, Spurs could form a new, long-term partnership between Scalvini and the returning Luka Vuskovic.

With the experienced Robertson alongside them, Scalvini and Vuskovic could form the heartbeat of De Zerbi’s tenure – and a very strong one at that.
Jacek Kulig known as “outstanding” in February, the Atalanta man also has the ability to penetrate the midfield and can kill two birds with one stone.
There were concerns about how Scalvini would return from his long-term injury, however he is back firing on all cylinders. Nothing bad about his arrival can happen.
If Tottenham are looking to rebuild their backline, starting with Robertson and Scalvini would be a good first step.
