Tottenham and Aston Villa are chasing the Southampton star who is open to a move

Tottenham and Aston Villa have joined the hot race to sign Léo Scienza, who is open to a move from Southampton this summer.

De Zerbi is targeting Tottenham for the first time

It’s a big summer for Roberto De Zerbi, who must first ensure Tottenham maintain their Premier League status in the final seven games of the current campaign.

Beyond that, it will be about embracing the Italian’s much-needed improvement, as he strives to get the Lilywhites back into European contention next season.

De Zerbi asks Tottenham to sign the “young star” wanted by Arsenal in 2023, he is willing to join them.

The Italian has put himself on the list for a summer move.

He has made his intentions clear on that front, too – telling reporters: “In all my discussions with the leadership of the team, their desire for the future was clear – to build a team that can achieve great success, and to do that by playing a style of football that is exciting and inspiring to our fans.

“I’m here because I believe in that desire and I’ve signed a long-term contract to give everything to deliver it.”

Whether Tottenham chiefs put it where their mouths are now is the big question. Recent reports suggest they are ready to back their manager, with the likes of Arthur Vermeeren and James Trafford emerging as strikers early on.

Of course, a big part of Tottenham’s potential development will also be the addition of attacking stars, making the race to sign Scienza all the more important.

Tottenham and Aston Villa are racing to sign Scienza

As reported by Felipe Silva of ESPN, Tottenham and Aston Villa are now in the race to sign Scienza from Southampton just a week after he put Arsenal to the sword in the FA Cup, with club officials monitoring the Brazilian regularly this season.

The attacking midfielder has grabbed the headlines with his performances in recent months and now has five Premier League clubs chasing his signature.

Alongside Spurs and Villa, Leeds United, Fulham and Everton are all eyeing the highly sought-after player ahead of the summer transfer window and looking to move up.

The move makes perfect sense for both Tottenham and those at Villa Park. For the Lilywhites, Scienza will spark their attack, having been involved in 17 goals in all competitions so far this season. His efficiency and accuracy on the final third are two things they have missed all season.

Scienza could replace Rogers for Aston Villa

As for Aston Villa, they may be looking at their place for Morgan Rogers. The Englishman is attracting a lot of attention ahead of the summer and those in the Midlands could be forced to invest to pursue their money.

If so, Scienza should be among their top choices. The Southampton man is open to a move to the top flight after an excellent season and Unai Emery could give him just that in the coming months.

As things stand, however, football is huge on the South American stage amid interest from across the Premier League.
