3 Takes of Torrent’s 5-3 Win Over Charge – Hockey Writers – Seattle Torrent

On Wednesday, April 8, the Seattle Torrent took on the Ottawa Charge for the fifth and final game of the 2025-26 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) season. The Torrent won the first game of the season series, while the Charge won the last three.

The game started in favor of the Charge, as Ottawa scored less than two minutes into the first half. Torrent scored after 12 minutes to get on the board. Torrent took the lead early in the second, but the Charge tallied a power play goal.

The back-and-out continued in the third, with Torrent scoring first and the Charge evening the score. A late power play opportunity gave Seattle the lead again, and with an empty netter, Torrent won 5-3.

Habisch Scored His First PWHL Goal

In the first half, the Charge and the Torrent tied the puck with the boards. Lily Delianedis gained control of the puck and sent it to Megan Carter, who was in the Torrent zone. She took the shot, and Jada Habisch tipped it in to tie the game.

The goal was a monumental one for Habisch, as it was his first in the PWHL. Delianedis also recorded his first PWHL point with the second assist. The two play on the fourth line next to Sydney Langseth. It’s a good sign that the fourth line is getting scoring opportunities. Habisch has only played seven games since signing a professional player contract when Hannah Bilka was injured. He may not have as much game time as other players, but Habisch is finding his edge.

Torrent’s Late Power-Play Chance Closes the Game

Eight minutes into the third period, the game was tied with three goals each in Torrent and Charge. There were only four minutes left in the game when Emily Clark took the bench. Torrent makes sure to take advantage of this opportunity.

Julia Gosling had the puck on her skirt in the Charge’s zone, but was able to clear it. She skated the puck into the Torrent zone and passed it to Natalie Snodgrass. He entered the circle and took the shot to give Torrent the lead with just two minutes left.

The goal was the difference maker for Torrent and a huge personal win for Snodgrass. In his first two seasons in the PWHL, he played with Ottawa and scored one goal in each season. He now has a career high of two goals, and he still has two points to match his career high of six points in his first season. With just four games left, there is still a chance.

His assist on this goal brought Gosling’s total to two points in this game. He now leads the team with 18 points, edging out Alex Carpenter, who has 17. Gosling had a great start to the season, but has since regressed. Hopefully, he can maintain this performance rate to end the season on a strong note.

Torrent Is Still In The Race

Torrent needed this victory; they would face elimination in the finals. Seattle would be the first team to begin competing in the Gold Program, a points system the PWHL has established to determine who will be selected first in the 2026 Draft.

Torrent still sits in last place with 26 points, but is now just one point behind the Vancouver Goldeneyes in seventh place with 27. Vancouver is still in the playoff race, so now there’s no reason why Torrent can’t have it. They face the Goldeneyes next, so this could be a big make or break moment for Torrent. Meanwhile, Seattle’s team’s performance has given them the edge they needed to stay alive in the postseason hunt.

Torrent Back in Action Tuesday

Torrent will have six days off and head west to face the Goldeneyes on Tuesday, April 14.
