Manchester United are now chasing a player Everton cannot afford to lose
Manchester United are keen to sign Everton star Iliman Ndiaye, as they look to bring in a versatile striker this summer.
Strengthening the midfield has been a priority for Man United so far, but with the signings of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, they can now focus on improving their attack.
Bringing in proven Premier League players worked wonders last summer, with Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha continuing to prove themselves as important players, and Ndiaye also ticks that box.
The 26-year-old has made 66 first-team appearances for Sheffield United and Everton, scoring 15 goals and providing three assists.
Last season, the right-back was hailed as “one of the best players in the Premier League” by Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara, and has been a threat for David Moyes’ side on the front foot, averaging 2.4 successful dribbles per 90.
Since then, the Senegal star has continued to showcase himself in the way he played in the World Cup, scoring one goal and two assists in three games.
As such, the Toffees may now find it difficult to keep their star forward.
Everton are serious about Iliman Ndiaye’s contract negotiations to stop Man Utd
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Man United are now very interested in signing Ndiaye, as they want to add a quality player this summer.
Everton now face an ‘uphill battle’ to keep hold of the 43-capped Senegal international, and are set to open talks over a new contract.
The Toffees scored just 47 goals in their 38 top flight games last season, which was largely a result of a lack of chances being created, as relegated West Ham created ‘more chances’ than the Blues’ 71, only five teams did not.
Ndiaye’s spark, directness and ability to make something out of nothing is vital to an established team that favors defensive stability over creating regular chances.
Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal have also entered the race for the former Sheffield United man, while Liverpool remain interested, so there could be fierce competition for his signature.
